Ole O. Helseth is my great grandfather. I have found out that his brothers also came to America at some time. They are Rasmus Helseth or Helset. And Ole Elias Helset or Helseth. Their parents were, Elias Ingelbrigts Helseth and married Ann Marta O. Nedre Ljoen 1839-1919. If anyone knows anything about these people or that can help me locate information , I would love to hear from you.
I also am looking for information on Erik Jonsson 1813-1897 and Kristianne Steffensdotter Bjordale 1824-1875 she is from a farm called Vollset. Thank you

Christiane was born Sept 22 and baptized Sept 29 1822, see #31
her parents were Stephen Endresen and Karen Olsdatter living at the Bjordal farm.
Erik Johnsen and Christiane at the Voldsæter farm in 1865, see here
Erik is most likely born in 1815 but have not been found in the parish records due to bad handwriting.
Ingeborg Olsdatter living at the farm is most likely Eriks mother.

A Rasmus E. Helseth, emigrating from Norway again, in 1905.

http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/webcens.exe?slag=visbase&sidenr=13&filnamn=EMIAALE&gardpostnr=6830&sokefelt=skjul.

Here is an Ole Helseth, age 21, emigrating 2 Apr 1890, going to Minneapolis. From Sunnelven. Wrong age, and supposedly the wrong year. Maybe he came back, and emigrated again in 1895.

Hello -

My family lived on a Helset(h) farm in Vestre Toten, Oppland County. If this is your family then the totenlag will be a great resource for you because there are invaluable searchable databases for birth, marriage, death records.

Good luck!

Rasmus Eliassen Helseth was quite a traveler. Here he is again leaving Ålesund 27 September 1915. His domicile was California, but was traveling to Minneapolis.

Hello!
My name is Olav Hellebostad, and my grandfather was Elias Eliasson Helset (1883-1985), brother of your grandfather Ole Helset.
They were 10 children, not 9 as mentioned in the message below. The oldest was Ingebrigt, born 1865.
Four of them left for America, it was:
Ole, born 1868 (your grandfather?)
Ingeborg, born 1871, married with a man, last name Riksheim, from Sykkylven.
Rasmus Johan, born 1873, he was not married
Ole Elias, born 1876, he was married with Elisa Marie Møll (or Møllsæter) born 1876, from Geiranger
This is what I have found till now....:)
I can perhaps find a tape where my grandfather is telling about his brothers and sisters....
Best regards from
Olav
Living in Oslo, born in Hellesylt

Olav, It is great to hear from you. I hope we can work together and exchange more information. Ole was my great grandfather.Do you know if there are more relations living?I know there was a great aunt named Anne that was never married. I found a letter from her in my fathers belongings after he died.I hope someone has a few pictures so I can show my family. Do you know the names of the parents? Are they correct in the above notes? This is wonderful. Please keep in touch. Always Mindy
