Who did Kari's brother John marry?

If it was Olaug Andersdatter, she is the mother of two of his children born out of wedlock, Torkel and Anders. They are listed in the same records as was Thorkel's birth.

John, the father of Torkel and Anders was Kari´s younger brother, born on farm Landsenden in Hedalen Nov. 2. 1833 #9

Poor people:
Olaug Andersdatter and her son Anders Johnsen lived on Thorsbroten in 1865, she worked as a spinner, unmarried, click here

The oldest son Torkel, its most likely him, was taken care of by the welfare agency and lived on Nordhagen

Did he also emigrate the same year, see migration records from Valdres page 1?
Confusing, the date Jan. 30.

Torkel born 1855 and Torkel born 1859 were cousins.

The big question: Exatly when did John Torkelsen emigrate to USA?

There were two children named Thorkel Johnson born out of wedlock within a few years of each other.
One was born to John Torkelsen & Olaug and the other to his sister Kari Torkelsdatter & John Olson.
Did both of these children named Torkel Johnson emigrate ?- or did they mix up the dates when they were entered in the parish records, for Kari's son. On the ship listing - Kari's son has the surname of Larsen.

I believe that John Torkelsen & Olaug Andersdatter were first cousins. Their fathers were brothers - unless I followed the wrong line. I can post the data if you are interested

Torkel born Jan. 30. 1855 didn´t emigrate in 1865.

His confirmation was on July 30. 1870 in Hedalen.
His mothers name is correct; Olaug Anderdatter, but his fathers name is wrongspelled: Thorkels Torkelsen as John Torkelsen #12

And he married June 6. 1875 to Anne Haraldsdatter, Torkel as Torkel Johnsen Nordhagen born Jan. 30. 1855, his father was John Torkelsen #2

Sør Aurdal 1900: Torkel Hagen born 1855, farmer and lumber man and wife Anne Hagen with three children on Hagen

I am glad it went well for Torkel Johnsen born Jan. 30. 1855

Dalb, do you have any information on his children after 1900?

When it says that they were born on a certain farm does that mean they lived there and worked the farm for the owner or did they live somewhere else.

It looks like Anders Johnsen b. Dec. 11. 1859 stayed in Norway, at least until 1875 when he was confirmed in Hedalen church on August 15.
He lived on farm Kjensrudeie, a subfarm under Kjensrud #13

I have been looking through the migration- death- and confirmation records for Kari, but no hit so far.

The migration records between 1867-and -77 for Sør Aurdal seems to have vanished (for me) and the 1875 census for Sør Aurdal isn´t online yet.

The family lived on a subfarm under Ildjarnstadbrænden in 1865, see page one.
Johns parents Ole and Kari were former owners on the farm.
Ole and Olea were renters on the farm.

When a child was born on a certain farm the parents could live there as employeeds, they rented the farm as tenant farmers or as owners.

Enter The legend on page one and read more about Ildjarnstadbrænden.

When you say "enter the legend on page one" How do I accomplish that. I know it sounds silly but when I go to the previous page I can't figure it out. Thank you so much for your time.

Sorry, but my English could have been better.
The students can be happy I am not a teacher.

The legend about the farm Ildjarstad is in chapter two in the information from Hedal stave curch.

Ildjarn means Fire steel and the ending -brænden (brenne) means the land was cleared by making a "controled" forest fire.

Hundreds of farms in Norway has the endig -Brenden/-Brenna in the name.

Thats ok, I appreciate all the information you have given me. I'm just thankful that you know the english language because I know nothing about the Norwegian language. My grandpa spoke it and I wished I would have payed more attention.
