Giermund Nielsen Øvreland died young, age 29, in 1797. He was buried Jan 7 Mæls.
Mæl is south of Dal, almost by the lake in the same local parish:

You are welcome.

Giermund Nielsen Øvreland was from Gaustad, it´s likely his brother Herbjørn married to Margitte who own Gaudestad Nordre (Northern), two servans and his father, widower Niels Trulssen and Giermunds sister Gunne age 26.

Gaustad is named after mount Gausta

Giermunds wife Birgit Olsdatter was from Moen when she married 1. time to Jon Ostensen Øvreland on Nov, 7, here is the engagement record on Oct. 16. 1774 just to show her origin.
16. octbr Dal 13 Jon Østensen Øvreland og Pigen (Maid) Bergit OlsDater Moen. 1. page central, #13

She was daughter to Ole Halvorsen Dale born about 1678 and Aslaug Torjersdatter Moen born about 1691.

Aslaug was buried Dominca Invocavit 1761 (First Sunday in Fast), Sunday Feb. 8. 1761 in Dal:
Aslaug Torjersdatter Moen gl. 70 aar (age 70) #3

Ole Halvorsen Dale and Moen was buried Nov. 19. 1768 on Dale, age 90, #53

When Peder (Per) Olsen Bøen had decided to emigrate he sold Bøen in 1868 to Sven Kjetilsen Lisland.
Thats why he was a renter when he emigrated next year, he perhaps rented his "own" farm.

The Gunnuf Pedersen on Bøen with Peder Olsen in 1865 is very likely a half-brother of Peder Olsen's father. He is also on the same emigration list as Peder and family. Several from this family emigrated to America.

Check out the Telemark Web site - and when you have your data on each of your emigrant ancestors, enter the information on the "Coming Home" pages. There are other Bøen and Overland entries.

Gros parents were Jon Nielsen and Aaste Gunnufsdatter. In 1865 they were at Tveten farm and Jons father Niels Gjermundsen 77 years old was there. The Niels Gjermonsen Øvland in 1801 is the same person.
