Hi, I have a (somewhat stupid) question about passenger lists:
Are passengers who are written on ledgers organized by the order of who's "in line'?
Sorry for my ignorance...

Bjørn Trulsen Ruud and his brother Truls travelled with his sisters Anne and Ingrid but they're not on the list "together" but in two separate areas.
Bjorn and Truls' names

Anne and Ingrid's names

Oh and I know there's no solid way to find out- but I thought it curious before Truls and Bjørn's names there are two young women the same age. Travelling together?

Thanks for any and all answers--- this website has saved me... hahaha

Additionally, 'frakt' or freight? does that mean the amount of money they have, or the weight of baggage?

It looks like a large goup of emigrants from Krødherad traveled together in 1879, start with nr 47769 Barbro Reiersdatter to nr 47785 Ingrid Trulsen Rud.
Bjørn Trulsen Rud seems to be a US citizen, USA, but his place of living was still Krødsherad.
Did he emigrate earlier and returned back home to bring his siblings with him to USA?

Frakt is freight, Bjørn Trulsen paid 377 Kroner and 60 Øre.

Thanks for the reply Kåarto, when I went back to digitalarkivet to look again for Bjørn to see if he possibly left and came back I couldn't find anything. Who knows? haha When I first looked at the list a few years ago I noticed it but just thought it was a mistake.

I cant find Bjørn Trulsen in the emigration records for Krødsherad 1879, his three siblings are 4-5-and 6.
It looks to me like he emigrated earlier and returned to take his siblings back with him to USA.

Church books for Krødsherad if you want to make lookups.
Its late night in Norway

Yay, I just found some notes from Grandpa's cousin's family history work,

Bjorn immigrated at the age of 18 to the United States in 1872. After a sojourn of five years in this country, Ben went back for a visitwith his folks in his native land, Two years later he and two sisters,Anne and Ingrid, and one brother Truls came here from Norway in June1879. Bjorn then homesteaded near Watertown, South Dakota.

There it is. lol Thanks for your help.

They also had an older brother Gul Trulsen in 1865

He emigrated 1870, married to Margit Eriksdatter, one daughter Ingeborg 6 months, right page top 21-22-23
