I am researching for my great-grandfather Christian Claus Eli. This is the information I have so far.

From the information there I did find him at emigration from Trondheim 27 November 1894 -- a rather cold time to be starting out. His destination at that time was listed as" Benson, Arrizona". Traveling with him was a Jens Herstad, age 20, also from Borsa and going to the same destination.
They were leaving on the feeder ship Juno which would have gone to England and from there he would have taken another ship to America. As shown on the photo, he did go by ship to New york on the Teutonic from Liverpool, arriving 13 Dec 1894. His wife and family stayed in Norway 2 more years before joining him.

I have found him in the census living in Borsa on the Lilleaas farm in 1865. He is listed as a foster child, b. 1855, living with two widows. It does not indicate they are related to him. From here it will take some digging ... the bygdeboks are not indexed except by farm. But a foster child may not be listed and probably didn't come from the farm he was living on. He was probably on one of the AEle farms at some later point and from there came the name he took at emigration. If we're lucky, that's the farm his wife came from. His wife's name was Ingeborg and I do not know her maiden name.
Any bit of info would be appreciated.

If the Kristian you are looking for is the one living with the widow Berit Pedersdater and most likely her mother and widow Kirsti Toresdatter on the Lilleaas farm in Børsen he was most likely the one born out of wedlock in 1855, see #38
his parents were Jørgen Johansen Jystad and Beret Gudmundsdatter Viggen. Berets father Gudmund Mikkelsen was one of the witnesses.
Beret was born June 5 1828, see #15
parents Gudmund Mikkelsen and Karen Olsdatter.
Jørgen Johansen was born Jan 4 1831, see #81
parents were Johan Nilsen Jystad and Andi Ingebrigtsdatter.
Jørgen later married Eli Evensdatter, see 1865
their first child Johan was also born out of wedlock.
