I am an artist painting a picture of the ship Peter Jebsen, on which my Great Grandfather and his family came to America. I have black and white pictures of the ship, but, other than the stack, I do not know what color the ship was. (So far it is painted black with a red bottom.) If anyone can help with this question, I would be very grateful. |

Hello PDL
I uploaded a photo to the Norway Heritage Image Gallery today. It was taken some years ago when visited the Maritime museum in Bergen, and shows a model of one of the DNADS steamships. I cant remember wich of them. If you like I can e-mail you a high resolution scan. It would be nice to se a copy of your painting when it is finished

Bless you Borge!! You came through with flying colors -- pun intended. That ship model, I am sure, is of either the Peter Jebsen or the Kong Sverre, which were nearly identical and whose colors would have been the same. Thank you so much -- you have solved my problem. I would appreciate receiving the picture -- send to plovchik@yahoo.com. I will definitely send a photo of the painting when finished.
