I am looking for information about 3 siblings from Gran, Hadeland: Christen Andersen born 2. nov 1832, married Marthe Amundsdatter in 1863 and left with her and his parents in law to USA in 1867. Ingeborg Andersen born 14. june 1841, married Lars Larsen Egge 30. jan 1868 and left with him and their daughter Rilda born 1868, to USA in 1870. Karen Andersen born 30. june 1850 and emigrated to USA sometime after 16. april 1870 - may be with the bark "Colonist" from Drammen 10. may 1870.
What happend to them in America? I have a little information about Christen and Ingeborg: They settled in Fillmore county, Minnesota. I also belive there is information about them in something called the Rowberg files. Someone with access and kindness who can send me that information? About Karen I know nothing from USA. |

Have you tried a search for Rowberg files with Google - maybe you will find something of interest. |

Hi Vivi,
Rowberg Biographical File original clipping file is for in person research available at Norwegian American Historical Association (NAHA) on the campus of St. Olaf College in Northfield Minnesota. A microfiched copy of the file is available for in person research at the Institute for Regional Studies in Fargo, N.D.
There is a Hadelandslag. As long as you are googling try bygedelags fellesraad. That should bring you to a main page and then select Hadelandslag.
Good Luck,

Thank you.
Since I am living in Norway the files is a bit far away... That is why I was hoping someone had a copy or the information I am seeking.
I have tried Hadelandlag - and I think they might have something - but for members only. If members are reading this: pleace |

Hi Vivi,
Right, sorry.
Ingebor Egge's obit is in Rowberg, filed under Lars Egge, originally published in two local publications in Rushford area, the Tri-Co Record in Rushford on 16 Feb 1922, & Levang's Weekly in Lanesboro, 16 Feb 1922. Unfortunately, I don't see an attachment symbol on the setup for this and since I'm a little too new to know what else to do, and the copy made was not good, I will type. Both were in English, have essentially the same details, this is the one in Levang's.
"One by one the pioneer settlers of Fillmore County pass away. Sunday February 12th, Mrs. Ingeborg Egge, a well-beloved Holt township lady, was found dead in her bed by her daughter, evidently having slept away during the night. Saturday evening her grandchildren visited the old lady who was living alone, and she was in her usual health. The funeral was held last Friday from the Highland Prairie Lutheran church, Rev. N.S.Mageleson officiating.-- The last Mrs. Egge was the widow of Lars Egge who died about twenty-five years ago. She was born in Norway July 14, 1841, and came with her husband to this country more than fifty years ago, settling on the farm where she died. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Andrew Odneson, who resides in the same neighborhood."
There are several websites you can visit which have information about your relatives. A free site to see the indices of Minnesota births and deaths is at:
www.mnhs.org
There are 177 Egges but also search only for Egges in Fillmore County. But there are quite a few less Odneson.
www.usgenweb.com Also has a sub site for Minnesota, where you can select Fillmore County. There are very many databases there, including pre 1908 land records which would be good to view.
The digitalarkivet also has transcriptions of baptisms, confirmations, marriages from a couple of Fillmore county churches, there may be something for you there.
Good Luck!
Jackie M.

Hi Carra.
It looks as if Ingeborg was a servant on her future husbands farm. I děd not know that. Tjenestepige = maid servant - on a farm that means the one who takes care of milking and the milk; making cheese, butter, cooking, cleaning and so on.
Parents of the siblings were:
Anders Christensen and Ingeborg Joensdatter Married 12. april 1830 in Gran.

Hi Jackie M. and thank you very much!
This was interesting reading!
And as any information, it gives new questions: it is only mentioned that she came with her husband, so: what happened to their daughter Rilda (born 15. mars 1868) who left Norway with them?
As far as I know, they had a son baptised in Fillmore 26. des 1874 and according to my information given the name Lauritz Carlsen (must be wrong since Carlsen is a surname)? What about him? Wife?
And what was the name of her surviving daughter? I have to variations: Ingeborg Andrea and also Isabel.
And names and birthyear and dates of her grandchildren and other descendants?
And what does the files say about her husband Lars Larsen Egge?
Sorry, I think I got a bit carried away here , but ... someone who knows?

Hi Vivi,
Thanks for thanks. Obituaries are what they are but this one is pretty packed for only a paragraph. And yes the "salty" details you pick up in them should spur you to other resources and make you "thirsty" for more. Family history research is a process...It would be a grand day if someone read your posts and was related and responded, but until then, you should collect as much information as you may.
Good Luck! Jackie M.
