Around 25 years ago my Grandfather gave me a pencil drawing of a steamship with the name "Juno Amsterdam" drawn on the side of the ship, in the bottom left hand corner the words "SS Juno Amsterdam" are written, on the back of the frame there is the name "George Barclay Wishart. Other than the above information and the drawing itself that's all the information I have. I've searched through the site and read mention of the Wilson Line owning a number of ships called "Juno" none are specifically "SS Juno Amsterdam". Can anyone provide more information/history?? |

Google is the thing - George Barclay Wishart most likely the artist that made the drawing. Searching for SS Juno also gives you a lot of hits. |

Have you found any more about this ship? Wishart was an amateur artist 1873 -1937 lived in Gateshead. I have several of his drawings, mostly local street scenes but also some ships on the river Clyde Glasgow. I wonder if the Juno Amsterdam was a ship he saw in Newcastle or other North East port. I would be interested to look at an image of the drawing. Ken Pollard |

Gareth, Ken,
Here is a link to the Crew List Index Project. I can't find a vessel called Juno Amsterdam. There are many Juno's - clicking on a given year and image might help you correlate to the painting you have, and then to details of the vessel itself and her maker.
