I am looking for help in translating some documents. I have recently found a census record for Johan Pedersen born around 1822. He married Anne Svendsdatter (born around 1821) and together they had several children.
- Edvard Johansen b. 1/15/1841 in Askers
- Anethe Johansd. b. 3/1/1854 in Royken
- Pauline Johansd. b. 10/14/1857 in Royken
- Marthine Johansd. b. 5/13/1860 in Royken
- Thorvald Johansen b. 9/26/1862 in Royken

I think that I may have found Johan's birth record, but I cannot be sure because I can't read Norwegian! Can someone help me out?

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1123&uid=ny&idx_side=-72

Also, if anyone finds any other family members (or the birth/marriage/death records of any of the above members) I would really appreciated you sharing your knowledge!

Thanks!

Erin

http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_side=32&show=32&uid=37113&urnread_imagesize=full&hode=nei&ls=1

The birth record for Thorvald b. 9/26/1862 He is number 6.
http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=5901&uid=ny&idx_side=-49

Is someone able to translate the sponsor's names for me please? I would really appreciate it!

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -
http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~norway/na20.html

Also remember to use the lists of translated words that are available under the "Links" above right on this page.

Names are names - why would names be translated? Perhaps I don't understand.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any ways to look for the children of Johan Pedersen and Anne Jorgine Svendsdatter. I have six children so far, but the time gap between some of the children lead me to believe that there could be more born between the years of 1841 and 1854.

Johans baptismal record is #25
he was born in 1821.
Finding children when you do not know the name is "hard work" - you have to know or find out which parish record to look in and then look for the parents names.
Have not found Anne Jørgines birth record - do not know whether it is in Asker or not.

Another possible child is Pernille (#22). I can't make out the exact sponsor names, but some of the names look familiar to the other children's sponsors.

It looks like twins were born in 1848 - Christian (#11) and Lovise (#12). Again, I'm looking to decipher the sponsors names.
