I have been trying to find some information about what happened to Gjertrud Larsdatter Negard and her grandmother Gjertrud Halvorsdatter Negard.

They travelled from Trondheim, Norway, May 15,1873 on the ship Tasso. They were travelling to Mankato, Minnesota.

In the emigration records they are listed as Gjertrud Negaard, 26. She was born in Rindal on March 6, 1852.

Her grandmother is also listed as Gjertrud Negaard. She was 72, and born in 1801. She had a son, John Knudson Negaard who emigrated to Mankato, Minnesota in 1876. (John K. Nergaard). In the 1880 Census he and his family lives in Wergeland Township, Yellow Medicine Co., MN. Canīt find any of the Gertrudes there.

Is there anyone who has information about these people?

Maybe she found a swede?
Age fit, and same county as John K. Nergaard.
You could try to locate their wedding record, to find her lastname...

John Knutson in Wergeland, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota.

Thank you so much for all this information about Gertrude and the Knudson family !
I didnīt know anything about what happened to the children of John and Randy Knudson.

I found a John Knudson who died in Minnesota 1912. I think this might be the one I have been looking for.
And there is a Rannie Fiske Knutson who died in Yellow Medicine in 1929. This is Johns wife. She was from the Fiske farm in Surendal.

I will try to find out the last name of the Gertrude who lives in Swede Prairie in 1880. There was another person who lived next to Gertrude in Rindal/Surendal who also went to Minnesota. She got a child in Swede Prairie, so it might be the right Gertude...

Thank you, Les and Jan Peter.

I found a Gertrude Bergum who died in 1946, in Yellow Medicine. This is probably the right Gertrude.
Inga Bergum died 1946, in Polk, and Robert J. Bergum died 1867 in Crow Wing.
Ruth Bergum died 1948 in Hennepin.

Now I have information about almost every person in this family. I will try to find out about the rest of them too.

The Gertrude who lives in Swede Prarie in 1900 is very exciting. Seems like thereīs a big chance this might be the right Gertrude. Her parents were Lars Larsson and Ingeborg Knutson.

What right Gertrude is that? Do you have a Gertrude born 1868?

Could Gertrude be listed as Julia in census-1910?

Census-1910 for Yellow Medicine, MN:
Ole Nelson, b 1843

Anne Nelson, b 1894

Matilda (Tilda in 1900) and Anne are listed as daughters of Ole and Julia Nelson. Julia Nelson, b 1853 is listed as immigrated 1874. Born in Norway.
