Bulls eye! see #131
it is the baptismal record from the Jacob Parish in Kristiania for your great grandfather, Ferdinand August, born Sept 7, bapt Oct 31 1880.
The family were living at Fjerdingen 15.
You will see the Jacob church on this Map
if you write Hausmannsgate 14 in the line for "SØK" (search) and then among the choices you get on the left side Velg (choose) Hausmanns gate Oslo, then zoom in a little bit and click on the "Skråfoto" and you are there. (use the map for other adresses if you like, Bøgata, Sørumsgate, Grønlandsleiret, etc.)
Sofie Vilhelmine baptized in the same church, see #51
these are the Schellhorn emigrants from Oslo

Thank you so much!

It is amazing news!

I am also really thrilled by the progress you made on the maternal line.

I have one more puzzle re a 'missing' brother but I shall let you know soon!

Meantime, thank you!

Once again, very many thanks for your help on my family tree. Trying to find Ferdinand August's birth was one of the hardest things, and I am pleased I now have all the dates of birth of my great grandparents!

There are still one or two mysteries with the Schellhorn family.

I shall list my grandparent's brothers and sisters to refresh you memory first:

1) Rudolf Hannibal, b. 1864 Sarpsborg
2) Thorvald Martin, b. 1866 Sarpsborg
3) Gustav Emil, b. 1869 Sarpsborg
4) Ingvald Mathias, b. 1871 Sarpsborg
5) Juul Heinrich, b. 1873 Sarpsborg
6) Frederikke Amalie, b. 1875, d. 1875 Sarpsborg
7) Sigurd Alfred, b. 1878 Fredrikstad
8) Ferdinand August, b. 1880 Oslo
9) Sofie Vilhelmine, b. 1883 Oslo

One issue is that there is a suspected sibling in between Frederikke and Sigurd ...

I have found reference to a Karl A. on Ancestry.com. Atlantic Ports Passenger Lists, 1820-1873 and 1893-1959 [database on-line].

Here, Karl lists that he is visiting his brother, Rudolf (must be No. 1) and that he is brother of Gustav (must be No. 2).

Later on, Karl shows in the 1900 census, and (as "Charles") in the 1910 and 1930 censues.

However, to date, I can't find the baptism of Karl / Charles...

Can you help?

I have looked for Karl but so far no findings, all the info you have on him from Ancestry would be fine, I am not a member and the copy you have provided is too small.

Karl
left Oslo in February 1896 going to Portland Maine. It says that he was 20 years old - was he born 1876 then?

On the 1910, Karl (Charles) give his age as 33: this would mean that he should be born between 20 Apr 1876 and 19 Apr 1877.

However, on the 1900, Karl (Carl) had given his date of birth as Apr 1877. So it should logically be between 1 and 19 Apr 1877.

Karl Adolf was confirmed in Grønland church Oct 5 1890, see #52
The family was living at Lakkegaten 21. The info is that he was born in Tune April 22 1876 and baptized July 23.
The baptismal record is #132
the family was living at Alvøen. Karl Adolf was baptized at home by Shoemaker Borgen from Sarpsborg. The witnesses were: the mother, his half sister Marie, Tinsmith F Natinsen Spydeberg, Tailor Karl Nielsen Spydeberg and the father.

Bertha (Elisabeth Theodora Olsen) was married to Ingvald Mathias Schelhorn, see the baptismal record for their last son Henry Julius, #251
Record for Inga Elisabeth is #92

I am very grateful for everyone's help. Thank you eibache!

I am now looking for Karl Axel Schellhorn, who FamilySearch says was born 20 Mar 1895 and baptised 23 Mar 1895. See https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/NWNY-CQJ.

According to them the Indexing Project (Batch) Number is C02252-6 and the film is 1282970. A Google search says that is Petrus.

However, when I search on Petrus I cannot find the entry. Can anyone help?

Many thanks!

Could you please explain where you found this record? Was it in Petrus, and is it in the normal baptism register? (I couldn't find it.)

And could anybody translate what other information is on the original record?

Many thanks.

Many thanks.

I have just found this record. Could someone explain what the extra information is in this one? Someone told me this family member was buried in Østre Gravlund, but this record appears to say only Kampen?
