Looks like I may have found him in Fargo, Cass, North Dakota in 1920...he was going by Lyder M Anderson age 47 married to Jennie age 35 (who was also born in Norway emigrated around 1902). No occupation is listed.

Looks like by 1930 he moved to Chaseley, Wells, North Dakota and had a different wife, Rosa G age 28 born in Wisconsin. They had a daughter, Maria J Anderson born around 1929 in North Dakota. Lyder and Rosa were married around 1926. His occupation is listed as a blacksmith. Lyder was age 57.

Ok, I found Lyder M Anderson born 2 Nov 1870 (but I know it's 1872 because of his draft registration) died in Eddy County, North Dakota on 9 Apr 1951.

I may have found his wife, Rose Gertrude Anderson, born 5 Jan 1902, died 15 Aug 1980 in Eddy County, North Dakota.

Hi,
Just checked a little on your Anderson's for a cemetery listing. In a Wells County, North Dakota cemetery there's a listing for a L.H.Anderson and a Rose Anderson. They are buried in some cemetery in Wells County and are on pages 160 and 161 of the cemetery book. I do not know for sure if they are the same people you were looking for or what is listed in this book. Just found the information. If you are interested in checking this out you can e-mail them at rrvgs@rrnet.com and request a photocopy of the page or pages interested in. You can also visit their web site listed www.fargocity.com/~rrvgs/. or write to them at RRVGS, P.O. Box 9284, Fargo, N.D. 58106=9284 RRVGS stands for Red River Genealogical Society.
The area of Chasley is a very rural area, a farming community. I am originally from the area.

Hi again,
I checked in the Wells County Cemetery Index and there is a Per and Sigrun Oyen listed in one of the cemeteries. I googled "Oyen" and a listing for the Fessenden Jubile Book comes up. I don't have this book, but interesting that Fessenden is also close to Chasley. I have a different Fessenden book and will see if anything shows up. Don't know if these Oyen's are related to
the Jennie in previous post, but these towns are all very small. Will get back if find anything.

Hi,

A more recent web address for RRVGS is:

www.redrivergenealogy.com

RRVGS also has a collection of obituaries published in the Fargo Forum covering dates from 1976- present. It might be worthwhile to check for an obit for Rose Anderson, since you have an exact date of death.

Good Luck,

Jackie M.

Hi,
Did some more checking and the Oyen's in Wells County only had two children, Helga and Finn. Traced them back to a Minnesota census in 1900. Here they were located in Elbow Lake Village, Sanford Township, Grant County. The father Per was listed as a physician. Thought was on to something in Wells County as this was a rare name.
I found a Jennie Oafen (Jennie Oyen) in the 1900 census in Moorhead, Clay County, Minnesota. She was born April 1884, single, living as a boarder. She was listed as being born in Minnesota but her parents were listed as being born in Norway. Being she was listed as a boarder doesn't give much help in figuring out her parents.
Another possibility would be to call the Wells County Courthouse and see if there is a marriage record, or beings the person posting this lives in Norway, to write. I have actually called the courthouse once and waited online while they looked. I don't know how much information a marriage license has on it tho.

Hi,

This may be Jennie Oyen, from the North Dakota Death index online:

OIEN, JENNIE 05/04/1979 Traill FEMALE 91 Years 04/01/1888 (resident of: )North Dakota Traill

Oien is a far more common spelling of Oyen but pronounced the same.

Hi,

Reviving this topic with some new information found today...

Lyder M Anderson obituary originally published in the Decorah (IA) Posten on 19 April 1951 found in the Rowberg Biographical File

“ Smed Lyder M. Anderson, Bowdon, er avgeat ved? Døden. Han var født i Norge den 21de November 1870, og hadde bodd i Chaseley, N.Dak., før han kom til Bowdon. Den 29 de Juni 1927 blev han i Fessenden gift med Rosa Adelman. Han overleves af sin Hustru; en Datter, Mrs. Marie Grindheim, New Rockford, N.Dak., og to Barnebarn.”

From the Bowdon Diamond Jubilee 1899-1974 book, published by the Jubilee Book Committee:

Page 107-108 Svendsgaard Farmily
“…Zora Svendsgaard was the sister of Dr. Per Oyen of Fessenden, for several years county physician of Wells County. A sister of Zora’s was Jennie Oyen, married in Bowdon to Lyder M. Anderson, blacksmith. Jennie is now deceased. …..”

page 71 Adelman Family
“…Rose [Adelman] who still resides in Bowdon, married L.M. Anderson. They had one daughter, Marie, who married Walter Grindheim and they live in New Rockford. They have six children. …”

page 83 Andrew Grindheim Family by Walter Grindheim has some further information about Walter’s and Marie’s family.

The North Dakota death index Jennie Oien probably not correct see this from the California Death Records index at rootsweb. Sister Zora also died in Alameda.
