Gulbrand Olsen and Anne Olsdatter were married June 9 1799, see 4th couple from top of left hand page. Gulbrand came from Gimmestad and Anne from Andenĉs.
Gulbrand was baptized Dec 13 1760, see 5th record in column all the way to left. His parents were Ole Arnesen and Synneve Rasmusdatter, Giemestad. in 1801 Synneve Rasmusdatter is a
widow her oldest son Arne is using the farm and he is also a widower.

Thanks for the great links to the photos. I managed to get my ged downloaded and updated on the RootsWeb website. I did not get a chance to fix all the errors but will be working very hard on it for the next year at least. I figure one surname a week will do it.

Thanks again for everyone's help. It is amazing how much was found since last night. I am amazed and grateful. Thank You.

I also think it´s Rasmus and his brother John on Andenes in 1865.
His confirmation was in Innvik July 19. 1857 still living on Aaland #7

Andenes means Duck isthmus and Aaland is coming from Aa-River, the land at the river.
Innvik means Inner bay.

Aaland/Ċland shall be located to a valley called Hoplandsdalen in Udvigen (Outher bay) sub parish in Randabygda country side at Hopland .

I hate to be pushy and ask for too much, however, is there anymore on Ole Arnesen and Synne Rasmusdatter? If it's too much to ask for I will understand. But you gave me so much more than I anticipated and now I am curious. Thanks in advance.

You are welcome, dont be afraid to ask for help.

Randabygd is across the Innvikfjord from Innvik parish, see the map in my former posting.

Visit Aaland, todays Ċland in Randabygda by this map, write Randabygd, press "SĜK" , zoom out twice and watch Aaland/Ċland by change to "Foto".

It was some migration from Aaland to Gloppen and Eid parish´s early in the 1860ts, could be interesting to find out when Rasmus moved from Aaland to Andenes.

Kaarto, Thanks. You might be right about that. I am learning so much about Norway all over again. I truly am glad I found this site. Am going to tell my relatives about it. Is there a place where I can order pages of these parish book pages. The print on the web is so small and I cannot get my printer to print them larger. I would gladly pay for them if it was possible. Or is it too time consuming?

I have the same problemts to print from the digitized parish registers, sometimes medium 40 % is all I can use depending on where a person is placed.

Perhaps if we have some experts watching this could give an answere to that.

From Rasmus christening record on page 1 you will see that 4 of his godparents were from Andenes and Stokke in Gloppen. Jĝrgen, Martin and Anne Gulbrandsen/-datter were most likley his fathers siblings.

Just ment to save for a possible use later if these are from your family.

From the migration records from Aaland, Innvik parish:
1861 Agnete Monsdatter Aaland b. 1814 to Eid for marriage
1862 John Monsen Aaland b. 1823 to Gloppen
1864 Ole Monsen Aaland b. 1835 to Vanulven?

No migration record for Rasmus (not unusual), his parents and four siblings lived on Ĝdegaard in Udvigen sub parish in 1865
Gulbrand served in the army as Sergeant and Anne was a tailor

Okay, had some spare time. I think this links up?? Hans Hansson Kaarsta b. 1820 d. 1/9/1894 Married Mari Knutsdatter, Hjelmeland born in October between 1820 & 1887. They had 4 children, Abelone b. 1844, Katharine b. 1850, Rakel b 1853, Anna b. 1856. I have no info on the parents for Both Hans and Mari, however I know that Anna married a Ole Monson Aaland on 11/12/1875 and had two children Maria b. 1/30/1878 and Helen b. 5/7/1884. Is this Ole Aaland connected to Rasmus or John Aaland??

Thank You. I was checking out the family history that I have recorded and was noticing all the notes about my documentation that I had. I now have none of that documentation. I am writing to all the remaining family members hoping to get duplicate copies. I do know that some of it will never be replaced as I had the only copies. A safety box at a bank better than the most expensive safe's you can buy. I digress. Thanks for your help. I will be back after the holidays with a lot more questions.

Hello again. Happy New Year Everyone. Thanks for your help. I have been reading a lot.
Question on John Monsen Aaland, Rasmus' Brother. I have he married Larsine Henden b. 2/1846. I have him (thanks to above) immigrating to America in 1886. I think his status is Married? then??, I believe they had children, Mons Aaland, Christopher Aaland, Kari Aaland and Knut Aaland. I am not sure how far you can research due to privacy. However, Was John married when he immigrated, and was it to Larine Henden or did he remairry in America? If you can tell me. Thanks.
