I hope this is the correct way to do this. I am looking for another branch of the family.

Here is what I think know.
Gabriel Nielsen Gassenyr, father Niel; married Magnild Thorsdatter, father Thor; they had a child Mons Gabrielsen Gassemyr born in Gaasmyr, Gloppen Norway on 12/27/1820 who died in 1901 in Sandene, Norway, married Ragnhilde Nilsdatter Sandene on 12/11/1848;

I would like information on Babriel Nielsen Gassemyr and family.

Thanks so much in advance.

Gloria

Boy you are quick. Thank you. A question. What sort of translation dictionary do you reccomend for me to use with these reports. I have one my mother gave me but it is dated 1980 and I never find any of the words in it. I would love to get it right. Thanks again.

I manage English and Norwegian reasonably well, do not have any suggestions for translators. This is what is recommended for parish records and census
"Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -

Thanks for the reference. I checked it out last night and am still working on it. I am going to try and devise my own little code for it. But will take time. Will look at online bookstores for more help. Thank you again for your help. Even though I have been able to print up my old GED file from the website and have some updates. I lost all my documentation and I am determined to get as much as verified before calling it good. Thanks you have save me a million hours of work. I also believe if I could read the papers, I would have a lot more questions for you, so that may be a blessing in itself.
Thanks

If you click on LINKS (see above right on this page) you will find Dictionaries listed -- two of those are highly recommended for the use you seek.
Also under LINKS you'll notice General Genealogy and a subcategory which includes Articles and How-To. Translations of census format headings, church record headings and other helps are there.

Okay, I have a follow up question. Mons and Ragnhilde had children, one was Jonas, I have no bdate but from a recollection of a family member they think he went to Canada to work on a R.R. but was never heard from again. I found out that sometime persons return to Norway but did not return home. Is there anything on him.

This is the family in 1865. No Jonas born yet.
Jonas not found, it was not a common name in Gloppen, if at all used.

Thanks, I have a note that Gabriel was lost at sea in 1891. Are there any records of that. I tried to find it in the ships links, but not good enough to figure the links out yet.

I enjoy your candor and help. Thanks again.

Here are a couple of more holes with which I may need some filling in. Kornelius married Rachel Sandal Samuelsdatter . Don't know when or where, Sorry. He dies 3/21/1936 in Sandene.
Ingeborg married Ole Mathias Rye, she died 4/3/1930 in (Aske, Sandene?) Don't think that is possible, must be an error somewhere. Marte married Mathias Ask and she passed in December 1946, Also Aske, Sandene. Thanks, have more on the others but will wait for another time.
