The Help files or printed manual for that software should cover that topic. If you can't find that then perhaps consider joining a mailing list of Family Tree Maker (FTM) users.

For Family Tree Maker, on the family page showing the person you want to add a spouse to, click on the spouses icon.

On the next screen you will the first spouse. and there is a button for adding a spouse. Click on the add and type in the name and can add whether you want the children attached to the new spouse (usually no, but not aways). You can always detach children later.

After that, you will get a family page showing the original person and the nelwly added spouse. Then you can add the information for the new spouse.

Also, the is a point in the process where you can determine which is the primary spose for reports. If you ever want to go to the new sposue you can got to the original couple and click on the spouses icon. to show the family sheet for the non-primary spouse.

You can always go to the people icon on the far left and type in the first few letters of the new spouse.

If you do not want the farm to affect the filing order, put a comma after the last name and then the farm. The person will be files and searched by the last name, but he farm will sho on the pages and in reports (with a comma between)

Make sure you add the sources for the documentation.
