I have found the Notice for Final Settlement and Tax Adjustment in the Madison Capital Times for Netta Hanson, August 26, 1940. It was put in by her son, Einar Hanson, as administrator of her estate. My guess is, that this means that Gus had already passed by 1940.
I also have a copy of Einar Hanson's obit from the Madison Capital Times, dated February 26, 1971.

Please click on my name "Lislcat" to get to my e-mail address. Just send me an e-mail and then I'll be able to send an e-mail to you, with copies of these articles from the newspaper.

Good luck!

The 1930 US Census also finds them living in Madison, WI

Gust Hanson, head, 47 years, owns home, married, age at first marriage - 20, born Norway, parents from Norway, immigrated in 1902, Naturalized, and he was a machinist at a manufacturing company.
Netta Hanson, wife, 55 years, married, age at first marriage - 32, born Norway, parents from Norway, immig in 1902, Naturalized, no occupation listed.
Gladys Hanson, daughter, 19 years, single, born Wisconsin, she worked as a cleaner at a dye works company.

Was Gustav married before?

They lived on Farwell St. in Madison.

I hope this helps.

Hi,
Do you understand why I was questioning if he had been married before? Since if you go by the info from the 1930 US Census, they have an 8 year age difference, yet the age difference between their ages at time of first marriage was 12 years. It could also be a typo.
