I am looking for information on my great great grandfather, Ellef Olsen born October 13, 1778, in Boe, Telemark, I cannot find him in the church records. In the 1801 census there are a couple of Ellef Olsen's, but I am not sure which one was he. He married Asberg Halvorsdtr bon on December 08, 1791 in Sonseboe Farm, Boe, Telemark. I am looking for the church records and census records for her also.

Hi,
Ellev Olsen was born to Ole Rødningen Oct. 13 christened Oct. 18 1778, right page 4. from bottom:
18de (Oct) Dom 18- p Trin:....................døbt (christened) Ole Rødningens Søn (Son) Ellev født: (born) 13 October:

1801 census, he could be on Otterholt, nr 947 and she on Farberget nr 536.

Asper = Asber is #7

1801 census Bø.
Rødningen was a sub farm under Oterholt Søndre (Southern), Ole Rødningen was Ole Ellevsen "Huusmand" Cottager on Rødningen and Ellevs mother was Anne Vernsdatter, Anne Berntsdatter in the 1801 census, here

Ellevs parents and a sister Anne is listed here

Born ca or about means the author did not find the birth record, the date has likely been taken from the death record.

Asberg is a very unusual name so we can asume Asberg Halvorsrdatter was born to Halvor Nielsen Farberget and Asber Jorgensdatter in the 1801 census. The wedding record for Ellev and Asber could confirm that, see here

Leiw (=Ellev) Olsen, Farberget died July 2 1835, see #44
Asberg Halvorsdatter was 75 years old and still at Farberg in 1865
Ellev Olsen and Asber Halvorsdatter married 19 Oct 1813, see #26 (last record in right hand column - hardly readable)
Their child Asber was born Sept 25 1815, see #94
and she was confirmed Nov 1833, see #74

They also had a daughter Ingebor born Jan 31. 1814 to Ellev Olsen paa (on) Otterholt and Asber Halvorsdatter #27

Because of that its the wedding record we have here, hard to read because of all the ink and the farm names are gone, looks like they engaged Dec. 19. 1813, "Ungkarl"Bachelor Ellev Olsen and "Pige" Maid Asper Halvorsdatter, right page bottom

Thank you all for the information, it helps me quite a bit. Is there any information available on Ole Rodningen and Anne Berntsdatter earlier than 1801?

Not at the moment, sorry, the "Bygdebok" Bø-soga, 3 volumes, has most likley much more information.

if you click on the 1801 census for Farberget above you will see that Asber Jørgensdatter became a widow about 1790 and married 2. time to Halvor Nielsen, she had 3 children with her 1. husband Svennung (unknown last name), Ingeborg, Jørgen and Kari. From her 2. marriage she had Marken Halvorsdr, Asber Halvorsdr and Svennung Halvorsen age 7.

This next is interesting and unusual.
According traditional Norwegian naming Svennung age 7 as 1. born son should have been named Niels after his fathers father, instead he was named after his mothers first husband Svennung which appear very seldon.
