I am trying to find out what ship and port my great-grandmother arrived into the Americas' on. Her name was Anne Larsdatter Kvissel, born May 1871 in Lomen Sokn, Vestre Slidre, Valdres, Norway. According to some family records she left Norway on 20 May 1891 (we don't know what port in Norway)bound for Decorah, Iowa where she arrived on 12 June 1891. Can anybody offer any suggestions on where to get some information?

Thanks!!!!

According to the Digitalarkivet she left in 1896. She is number 0908 in the 1896 records of the Christiania police, departing April 3, Anna R. Kvissel age 25 from V.slidre, bound for Ottawa Ont. Canada. Unfortunately the online record is not complete, it misses the info about the ship and line. You should try writing a letter to the "Statsarkivet in Oslo":

Statsarkivet i Oslo
Folke Bernadottes vei 21
Postboks 4015 Ulleval Stadion
0806 Oslo.

Ask them if they would be willing to look up the info about the ship and line, give them the info I posted above.
