I’m hoping someone can help me find out what happened to my ggg uncle, Ole Terjesen Auestad, son of Terje Aslaksen Auestad and Asgjerd Hansdatter Tveit. I have no birth or death dates on him, but he is mentioned in both the Mykland and Vegusdal bygdebok. My guess is that he died young, but I would still like to find his birth and death dates.

My family was originally from the Auestad farm in Mykland/Åmli area of Aust-Agder, Norway.

The Mykland bygdebok mentions Ole, but doesn’t give any dates.
Translated from the Mykland bygdebok:

Terje was the oldest and he married in 1810 to Asgjerd Hansdatter from Tveit in Mykland, they got five children, Ole, Kari, Anne, Kjersti and Gunild.

It mentions Kari, my ggg grandmother, because she took over part of Auestad with her husband, Knut Andersen Refnes, but it does omit the oldest son, Aslak.

In the Vegusdal bygdebok it lists the farm history of the Vågsdalen farm. My gggg grandfather, Terje Aslaksen Auestad, traded his half of Auestad farm in Mykland/Åmli for Vågsdalia/Vågsdalen.

From the Vegusdal bygdebok:

Terje Aslaksen Auestad f 1774 d 1845, g 1810 m. Asgjerd Hansdtr Tveit, Mykl

Born:
1819 Aslak
Ole
Kari g.m. Knut Andersen Refnes Auestad
1821 Anne g. 1853 m Anders Halvorsen Stølen-Engesland
1825 Kjersti g. 1846 m. Tellef Gregersen Furholt
1833 Gunhild g. m. Knut Christensen

After this info, there is no mention of their son Ole. I’m hoping that someone can help me to find the birth and death record for him, if they exist.

Just so you know, there were other Ole Terjesen Auestad's that lived on that farm, descended from the other line that lived there, so it can be confusing. Terje Aslaksen and Asgjerd Hansdatter Tveit have to be listed as his parents.

Takk for hjelpen!

Karis bapt. record is 9th from the top
she was born Jan 25 1812.
Another Kari was bapt Jan 28 1816, see 4th from top
Aslak born March 9 1819, see #2
Anne born April 7 1822, see #4
Kirsti born July 161825, see #7
Hans born July 13 1828, see #8
Gunild born April 11 1832, see #3
another Hans born June 5 1835, see #14
If there was an Ole he must have been well hidden in the records.

Tusen takk, Einar!

Now I have two Hans' to research, but I'm guessing that the first one died young. Still no Ole, but maybe the bygdebok got it wrong and it should of been Hans? I knew about the first Kari and knew that she died young. The second one, is my ggg grandmother.

Takk for hjelpen med Ole Terjesen Auestad!
Hils Wanda
