He was born a twin in Norway in 1849. He may have sailed with his sister, Maren Sophie, to the US. Other than possibly an 1880 census listing him as a seaman boarder in New York, I have no other record of him in the US. Any help is appreciated. Thank you! Shari

That "Martin Samuelson" entry in the 1880 US census for New York would have been born about 1857 not 1849. Not a likely match.

You have some solid evidence that your man EVER resided in the US? As a seaman he could have worked his way to anywhere with a port and not ever have been listed on a passenger list.

The ship he sailed on was the 1869 Argo- thanks to the efforts of those who gave me that information in the post for Maren Sophie Samuelsdatter. They were to go on to Prairie Du Chien, Wisconsin. Thank you! Shari
