I am making great use of the map suggested on my first posting
1881 Map

I'm playing with a nifty feature in the Genealogy Package I'm using that will map location. It seems really cool. The issue is all my Vang reference resolve to the same GPS location and thus are the same pushpin.

Is the a place you could suggest to resolve gps locations for Norway that might be able to get to farms or cities?

I've found in the tool a way to drag the marker to a spot without the GPS coordinates (a right click).
I'm having trouble find where Hoel gard was. I'm using these records as my sources I'm Looking in Vang. I focused my search in the area around
  • Lindholt (where Christoph Tronsen born)

  • Dystvold (where Christopher and Maria died and last three children born)

  • Hårstadeie(where first chld born)

  • Aalstad (where second child born)
If someone could explain where Hoel gard was, I'd appreciate it.

Wang/Vang parish, todays Hamar town and municipality, Hoel is likley Hol today.

Not sure if there were several Hoel farms in Vang, if not this could be the right place Mary.
This farm seems to have vanished when Hamar expanded or build Hol cemetery, only a Kindergarten, a cemetery and a road remains.
The land is cultivated but I cant see any farm.
Worth a try.

1881 Map,
spell Hol Vang, click on "Velg" nr 3 Hol barnehage (Kindergarten) and Hol Cemetery and Holsvn (Holsrd) shows up.

Good luck.

Thanks again.

I think with the various clues, you've got the right one.

The marriage record indicated both Christian and Marthe were living in Store Mørchved and the 1801 census had Hoved Sogn Hoel. There is a Hove 5 km North and slightly east of the Hol that is just north of Hamar and then Mørchved is another 1 km north of Hove.

If you follow Kåres suggestion and zoom out once or twice you will see vestre østre Hol east of Hol Kirkegård.

- I have problems with understanding this.
Christian and Marthe were servants at Store Mørchved when they married. When Christian Johansen is listed with his parents at Hoel in 1801 this is the farm Hoel situated in Wangs Hoved Sogn = Wangs Main Parish. (There was another farm Hoel in Furnes Annex)
I don't understand where Hove 5 km North and slightly east of the Hol comes into the picture.

I'm sorry I added any confusion.

I was trying to say thanks to Kåre for pointing to the right location.

In my post of July 14, I listed four areas I used as the boundaries for my search. Kåre's is outside that area, but makes perfect sense. Sometimes I need someone to make me look outside my boundaries. THANKS!

The area I had been looking in related to future location the family would be. The location Kåre provided fits in to the 1814 location where Christian and Marthe lived at the time of their marriage.

I thank you both for helping me! I hadn't located Store Mørchved until examining the location Kåre suggested.
