It seems to be North Dakota Terry. Lars Olsen Tveito was still a citizen of North Dakota in 1900, his brother Sevat owned Tveito, married and two daughters, the mother widow Gunnild Larsdatter lived, here.

Link to #33 is now corrected. I don't do the checking which is obviously neccessary. On the confirmation record I should have directed you to the female page = right page, #27 is at the bottom. |

Thanks eibache. These records are helpful.
Kċre, thanks alot. Did he essentially lose his Norwegian citizenship. I assume there wasn't dual-citizenship then? |

Perhaps Lars intention was to return to USA for a 4. time, he was only 37. Beeing a US citizen it would make things easier for him. He brought with him back from USA about 9 years of salary as a field hand in Norway.
I am not sure if a dual-citizenship was was possible at that time, a foreigner in Norway late 1800 became a citizen of Norway when she/he settled down her permanent.
Lars died 1938, the answere could perhaps exist there, but that record isn´t online.

Hi,
The Lars O Tvete mentioned earlier found in the 1885 Dakota Territorial census in Lamoure county is another man also from Aal, Hallingdal. If you have been using the online version of the new Aal bygdebok he is found in family 3034, the O stands for Oleivson rather than Olson...
