I would like to find the record for the baptism of Anne Wraalsdatter Rostveit born about 1802 Rostveit, Åmli, Aust-Agder as well as her parents.

Also would like to find the baptismal record for her husband Aanon Osmundsen Klepsland born 1803 Klepsland, Evje, Aust-Agder. I know his ancestry fairly well.

Any help would be appreciated.

The parish records for Åmli and Evje in Aust-Agder are both available for your research at the Digitalarkivet website.

Which parish books have you already checked yourself?

Anne Wrolsdatter was born Sept 10 and baptized Sept 11 1803, see the 5th record on left page.
Her parents were Wrol Halvorsen and Torbor Taraldsdatter - I believe the mother should have been Torbor Knudsdatter - ref. siblings and marriage.
Annes brother Knud was born Dec 23 1800, next to the last record on left page, his parents are recorded as Wrol Halvorsen and Torbor Knudsdatter.
Vrol Halvorsen, Vehuus and Torbor Knudsdatter, Røstvet were married Sept 29 1794, see #11
Wrol Halvorsen and Torbor Knudsdatter also had a daughter Sigri born Dec 27 1797, last record on right page.

A candidate for Aanon Osmundsen is the first record on left page. His parents were Osmund Gundersen and Marthe Aanonsdatter, Haugom.

would have been nice to have the parents name!

Thank you, those are very likely the correct references. I believe that my records had the birth years reversed, which complicated the search.

One additional question, what is the phrase just below the 1802 date and just above the record for Aanon Osmundsen.

- the phrase is a date: "Siste Søndag æfter Paaske" = Last Sunday after Easter = 3rd Sunday after Easter, in 1802 this was May 9.
Aanons parents and siblings at Hougom Vestre in 1801
Aanons grandfather Gunder Osmundsen was 80 years and his grandmother Guro Olsdatter was 70 years.
Did you have these names from before?

Thank you for the translation. Yes I did have the names. If I had put the names in my first post I might have saved you some time. But I am very pleased to have the names of Anne's parents since that is new to me. Of interest also is the grandparents of Marte Aanonsdatter. They are Aanon Mikkelsen Klepsland and Siri Olsdatter Tveit. The parents of Aanon are Mikkel Aanonson and Marte Olsdatter. Unfortunately the parents of Siri Olsdatter are unknown to me. I have not looked very hard yet for them but what I think I know is that she was born in 1734 at Tveit Evje Aust-Agder. Although I did recently search the years 1734, 35 and 36 under Evje in Evje, Aust-Agder with no luck.

- do you mean Marthe Aanonsdatter, born approx. 1765, the wife of Osmund Gundersen at the Hougom Vestre in 1801?

Aanon and Siri Klepsland (Aanon Mikkelsen and Siri Olsdatter) baptized a son Michael on Dom Misericordias (May 6) 1764, see top of right page.
On July 23 1767 they baptized their daughter Ingebor, see next to the last record on right page.

Anne Wraalsdatter had several siblings - 9 to be correct.. Sigri 1796, Sigri 1797, Knud 1800, Guro 1806, another Siri 1812, Halvor 1809, Berte 1815, Ole 1819, Bergith 1820 all born at Aamli.

My great great grandmother was Berte Wraalsdatter. She lived at Strommen, Hisoy, outside Arendal in 1865, but she was then wrongly named Bergitte Knudsen.

Her brother, Knud, who by the way was married to Mari Osmundsdatter - the sister of Aanon osmundsen, died as a farmer at Bie, Oyestad, Arendal - just across the river for Berte.
They had only one daughter, Torborg Knudsdatter.

In 1865 Siri (unmarried) born 1812, lived at Regevig, Tromoy together with a niece, the child of Guro Wraalsdatter and Gregorius Gregoriussen Mykland both situated at Mykland i 1865.

I have not been able to trace the other siblings. There might therefor be a chance that also some of them have emigrated.

At January 11, left page top. What is the meaning of this reference which looks like a word beginning with De??

They were married on 6 March see right hand page.

Yes, although the Vegusdal Bygdebok gives her birth year as 1759 and I did find a person that is probably her named Mariette baptized in 1760. See last entry left page Feb 7.

It is the parents of this Siri Olsdatter that I would like to find.

Bodil,

I would be interested in knowing if you have traced the family of Anne Wralsdatter back further. Do you know who are the parents of Wrol Halvorsen Vehus are. And do you know who the parents of Torbor Knudsdatter Rostveit are. I would be most interested in that information if you have it.

I didn't quite finish the message.

Sigrid Espestoyl was born abt. 1724.

She was Halvor's third wife. He had previously been married to Maren Madsdatter and Astri Olsdatter.

With Sigrid he had the children:
Mari 1756
Wraal 1758
Astri 1763
Berte 1770

Torbor's parents was Anne Jørgensdatter b. 1737 and Knud Taraldsen b. 1744. Rostveit.
