I am looking for any information on my great-grand-parents:
Johan Hegersvik and Ingeborg Kornelius.
They had a farm on Hitra sometime in the 1890s and moved to Throdheim later.
I have not been able to find a farm with the name Hegersvik or Kornelius in that area. Does anyhone know of such?

What vital dates do you have for these persons? When were they each born? If they emigrated, when was that? When were they married?
Vital life dates are important to being able to locate persons in historic records and documents.

1900 Norwegian census database shows 2 farms called Hegersvik in Hitra, Sør-Trøndelag area. In the 1865 census the spelling is "Hæggersvig" and a 5 year old Johan lives there.
Dates are important to being able to find people. Without dates - there just is no way. |

But, until the original poster provides some vital dates for HIS ancestors - data and links are nice but there is no proof that it is related in any manner.
There are several databases for the area, including an 1875 census, but until vital dates are given they are pointless. |

From the 1900 census in Trondheim:
Ida Heggersvik (1895), her baptismal record is #9, baptized Ida Jakobine, her parents Johan Fredriksen and Ingeborg Korneliusdatter, living at Heggersvik.
Marie Heggersvik (1884), her baptismal record is #1, baptized Marie Severine Evennora, her parents Johan Aneus Fredriksen and Ingeborg Jakobine Korneliusdatter, living at Balevåg under Vikan.
Anton Heggersvik (1881), his baptismal record is #6, baptized Anton Fredrik, his parents Johan Fredriksen, Balavåg (19) and Ingeborg Korneliusdatter (22).
Johan Aneus Fredriksen, Brevik and Ingeborg Jakobine Korneliusdatter, Vikan were married Nov 18 1881, see #14.
Johan Aneus Fredriksens father Fredrik Johansen, Brevik.
Ingeborg Jakobine Korneliusdatters father Kornelius Hansen, Balavaag. (Should have been Rasmusen)
Johan Fredriksen (Heggersvik) in 1865
Johan Aneus was confirmed Sept 29 1878, see #23 he was born Nov 10 1862 and baptized Jan 11 1863, parents Fredrik Johansen and Ane Martha Olsdatter.
His baptismal record is #12.

Marie Heggersvik emigrating from Trondheim in 1902
Martin Heggersvik was also emigrating in 1902, this is most likely Maries sister Martine Karoline, see #6.
Confirmation needed from the poster of this topic. |

I am sorry that I did not provide any dates. The only date I had was my grandmother - - INGA JOHANNE born in Hitra on May 5, 1889, and I know the names of most of her siblings.
That is all I had until the information that all of you have given me.
1990 Census record sent by JWIBORG is my Grandmother's family - and there she is listed as Johanna. She emigrated to Canada in 1905, following the emigration of her two older sisters (Marie and Martin).
I am confident that Johan Aneus Fredriksen was my Great Grandfather and Ingaborg Korneliusdatter was my Great Grandmother based on a sort of birth certificate my Grandmother got from Norway around the time of her becoming a US citizen.
The emigration data regarding Marie and Martin (whom we called Mary) is also correct.
As to the Hegersvik farms, I have no idea which farm was my Great Grand Father's farm, or when they came to the farm or left it. They must have still been there in the 1900 census because they were still on Hitra.
I am so very grateful and amazed at what you have all done.

- yes your grandmother Inga Johanne was a twin, her baptismal record is #19 and her sister was Josefine Handine (#18).

in the 1865 census your g-grandfather was with his parents at the Brevig farm. When he was confirmed in 1878 the family was still at Brevig and when he married he was living at Brevik.
The first 3 children were born at Balevåg under Vikan, and your g-grandmother was born at Heggersvik. So was the daughter Ida in 1895.
At the time of the1900 census the family had left Heggersvik and was in Trondhjem.

This is likely Marie Heggersvik arriving in the United States. The spelling of the last name is a little off but that is not unusual. Destination is listed as Portland, Maine.

And also travelling with Marie is a Martine although listed here as a male it is more likelyi Martine Heggersvik. Also from Ancestry.com.

My Grandmother always said she was a twin, but never told me more. It is very moving to learn her name - and, of course, the info on my Marie and "Martine" - - whom we knew as Aunt Mary.

The twin sister Josefine Handine died being a little more than 1 year old, see #10.
Cause of death given as "inflammation of the thigh". |

I never knew what happened to her.
By the way, do you know if there is any way to find out where the Hegersvik farm, or farms, are located on Hitra. I promised my Grandmother that I would someday go to Hitra and see the farm house her father built there.
