1865 Census Fredrikstad has Johannes Arnesen b. 1811 in Christiania and Karen Syversen b. 1809 in Hedemarken.

1875 Census Fredrkstad has Johannes Arnesen b. 1809 in Christiania and Charn Syversdatter b. 1808 in Vangs. Pr.

Where do you think I should look for their birth records?

is Vangs Pr in Hedemarken?

When Christiania how should you look for records?

Thanks!

David

For Karen Syversen b. 1808/1809 in Vangs. Pr, Hedemarken, you should check these records in Hedmark county:

Vang/Furnes
Vang/Vang
Vang

Christiania have quite a few churches, so without more information it's like looking for the needle in a haystack.

Vang Prestegjeld = Parish is in Hedmark.
Christiania is a much more difficult place, many parishes to search in, without an address or the fathers name it will be just a lot of hard work.

Thanks - not sure if it is my eyes or she is not there. I just went through the those Parishes in Hedmark and could not find her. Back to digging I guess!

Try Vang in Oppland. NO, Wait, I reread the above postings - Hedmark was indicated in one of those censuses mentioned above. But there is also a Vang clerical district in Oppland.

I am still at a loss to locate records for Johannes Arnesen and Karen Syversdatter. I am not sure if I keep skipping over them or they are not there. Any ideas?

#6 was just a child, born 1876, died 1882, her father was Jacob Syversen. (First three columns on right page are for birth dates, year month and day)

Thanks - thought I would try looking for death records for her in case there were clues there. I thought the 76 was age!
