I'm stuck in tracing my family heritage. Here is what I have so far.

According to the 1880 US Federal Census Halver F. Lee (my great great grandfather) lived in Lisbon, Yellow Medicine, Minnesota. He was born in Norway in 1824 and came to America in about 1872. With him was his wife Ingebor, born in 1827 in Norway, and his children Andrew and Ole. Another son Elling, was born in Minnesota.

I'm not sure where to go from here to trace my family back farther. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Halver F. Lee - most likely a Halvor which had a father whose name started with F and coming from a farm/place by the name Lie or Lien.
Some more details would be good, birth year of children, when married etc.

Halvor Lee was most likely Li, Lia, Lien (Hillside) or from a farm containing one of these "hill" names.
The farmname could end on Li or start with Li or just one of the three suggestions above.

Ole was Ole Halvorsen in Norway, Andrew could be Anders (Anders Halvorsen?).
About when were Ole and Andrew born?
Great advance if the children are to be found in the 1865 census, at least the parents does.

One should look for an Ole Halvorsen born to Halvor and Ingebor on a Li......farm.
