I have been going through the sites that you gave me to look up family of Bjerke. The information you gave me on Martinus was great. I can't find anything on his children and grandchildren. I know that one child came to America. I believe that one to be Mina.
I can't find any information on the one that came to America, Marriage, children, death. I would really appreciate any help you can give me so I can continue digging in my family history.
Your help has been greatly appreciated and this forum is wonderful. I have found many new items that I wasn't aware of before and with your help.
Again thank you and for all the help you have given me.

Mina emigrated 1908 - she was then only 13 1/2 years old! (travelled with a 20 year old also from Bjerke and going to S. Dakota.)

At ancestry.com, she is listed as Mina Burcke (14). She arrived Boston on June 25th, 1908. I don't have access to the site, so I can't view any details...

Good work Jan Peter, here is the Ancestry.com listing on her. The orginal manifest lists her father as Martin Bjerke.

Name: Mina Burcke
Arrival Date: 25 Jun 1908
Age: 14 Years
Estimated birth year: abt 1894
Gender: Female
Ethnic Background: Scandinavian
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Ship Name: Saxonia
Port of Arrival: Boston, Massachusetts
Friend's Name: Ole Bye
Last Residence: Norway
Birthplace: Kappand, Norway

And she is travelling with Ragna Sigrid as well as a Gina Bjercke. In spite of the spelling above of Burke the orginal manifest clearly shows it spelled as Bjerke. Both Ragna and Mina are listed as neice to Gina.

The next step for this Minne is to move to Minneapolis with her husband, no children yet.

View Map
Age: 35

This Minnie died in Minnesota. Click on the link to Minnesota Death Certificates. The date of birth is 16 Dec, 1893 which is the birth date for Mina Bjerke listed by eibache above. Search under Flanders, Morrison County and you find both Minne and her husband.

There is a Tollefsen Family Tree within the Ancestry.com Famly Tree's that includes both Minnie Bjerke and Elvin LaVern Flanders. Most of the information there is on Elvin Flanders and his ancestors but there is some information on Minnie. There are no children listed.

Thank you for the additional information. Is there any information on the other children of Martinus Bjerke? Their marriages, children, when and where they died. I haven't been able to find anything on them, unless I am looking in the wrong area. AGAIN THANK YOU .
