I just got chills all over. I wish I could meet you guys and hug you. My Father in Law is my favorite person in the world, besides my husband :) And I can't wait to surprise him with this for Christmas. I wanted to do something special for him. You guys are such a blessing. I can not express the gratitude I feel right now. I would never be able to accomplish this. As I read the documents you sent, I couldn't do that with out knowing to go left page. I mean it is so exciting for me. What I am doing is printing the document, and pasting what you have written to it, then adding that to the tree. So your help will be forever on our tree. Sincerely, Leslie Cannella Nordness

Einar, Thank you for everything. I was just reading about the Battle of Fimreite, I told my husband his family had to be involved in the battle. How would I find that?
Thank you so much,
Leslie

- I assume you mean the info I have given like this "Ole Monsen, Slinde was born 1748, his parents were Mons Christensen (1719) and Kari Olsdatter (1719)."
In this case I have found the info from a register of 1760. For the Slinde farm it looks like this.
In the 1st column you find Mons Christensen 41 Aar and Kari Olsdatter 41 Aar as well as a widow Anne Larsdatter 89 Aar (she may have been the mother of either Mons or Kari).
In the 2nd column you find their children, Christen 13 Aar, Elling 10 Aar, Ole 12 Aar, Lutzi 7 Aar and Lasse 3 Aar.
Baptisimal records have to be found in the parish records - for Ole Monsen who was baptized Febr 20 1748, see bottom of 2nd column.

For other persons in the 1760 register a similar exercise could yield results (but it requires a bit of work).

If this answer your question, please advice.

- that is to jump to conclusion. The battle was about 200 years before the first people living on Fimreite.
