I am trying to find some information about this woman, who is my great-grandmother's sister. Her birth date is 21 April 1859, and she was born in Hunn, Borge, Ostfold, Norway. I have been searching Ancestry.com for these answers, and I just get more and more confused. It appears that she married a man named Anders Larsen Humlekjaer. It also seems that she married a man named John A. Dahl and immigrated to America. Both records indicate that she died in Wisconsin, USA. My purpose for looking is to build my family tree, but also to see if I can find relatives who live here in the US who I did not know I had. According to Ancestry.com, she had three children with Dahl, and I'm thinking she may have married twice and immigrated to America after her second marriage, but I'm just purely guessing. I'd appreciate knowing anything that anyone might know about her. Thank you!

Sonja Hunn

Here is the same family in 1900 US Census but with a lot more than three children. The data here would indicate that This Grethe was born November of 1857 and immigrated in 1882. The data indicate that her husband immigrated in 1876. Thus they could have been married in the US since the data also state they have been married for 16 years putting the marriage in 1884 shortly after Grethe arrived in the US. Perhaps you have two different Grethe's.

The Dahl name, see the son Peter Dahl Humlekjær b. 1891s em.record, it comes most likely from her parents Peter Gjermundsen and Karen Andreasdatter Dahl.

When Grete Bolettes sister Helga Josephine was born March 27. 1856 she was born on Dahl, see #27.
