That census enumeration lists their birthplaces. Have you checked in the appropriate parish church records?

I don't think that I have access to these records here in the US. I tried to chase back in the 1875 and 1865 census but I could not find anything that looked quite rite. There are alternate spellings that show up, and some could be the same family but nothing for sure. Røbech is the current spelling that the family is using now.
Eric.

There was a fire that destroyed a time period of the Kristiansund church records. The records which survived are available as scanned copies on the Digitalarkivet website.

The baptisms of their multiple children may give you information about the original names of the parents.

The Digitalarkivet web site has been adding scanned images of the original Norwegian parish church records for anyone with Internet access since November 2005.

The Digitalarkivet web site - http://digitalarkivet.uib.no/cgi-win/WebFront.exe?slag=vis&tekst=meldingar
An English option is available by clicking on that word from either the left hand column or the blue link bar along the bottom of the homepage.
The scanned images are available from the homepage link "Skanna kyrkjebøker" [Norwegian version]/"Digitised parish records" [English version] which is listed along the left hand column and from the blue banner of links along the top section of the homepage.
After you've clicked on that link and a new main page has presented on the screen be sure and read the instructions that are available from the Digitalarkivet for navigating the scanned records. The instructions are available in Bokmål (official Norwegian), Nyorsk (Norwegian), Davvisámegiella (Saami), and English.
Recommended basic reading are the "Startsiden" [Norwegian version]/"Main page" [English version], "Brukerveiledning" [Norwegian version]/"User's guide" [English version] and "Om tjenesten" [Norwegian version]/"About this service" [English version].

Good information about translating the formats of Norwegian parish church records during various time periods, many of the basic terms used and understanding how to use the information should be studied at this web site -

I am having trouble reading the confirmation for Kund Robec given above. I can't seem to read the mother's name.... can any one else help me make it out? I think it says "Ingeborg Knudsdatter"?

Does anyone have more information on Neils Olaus Røbek, born -1816 in Christiansund? I have some of his marriage info in 1836, but would love to learn more of his parents if possible. I don't seem to be able to figure out how to search the 1801 cesus website. I know Neils would not be there, but perhaps his parents would be. Also, any church records of birth/ confirmation should give parents names?
Thanks again,
Eric.

The marriage record for Niels Olaus Røbæk and Ingeborg Anna Kirstine Hendriksdatter is #21.
They were both born in Christiansund, Niels Olaus was 21 years old in 1836 and his father was Niels Røbæk. Ingeborg Anna Kirstine was 23 years old and her father was Hendrik Jostensen?

Niels Olaus was baptized April 19 1816, see #15 in 3rd column. His mothers name is not given.

Thanks again eibache.
Here's where I am going with this. I want to prove or disprove a link with the following family of Robeks.

Father Peter Robek, b-before 1640, Norway: married around 1665 Mrs. Robek b-around 1640, (name not yet known)

Son: Anders Petersen Robek, b-before 1670, Norway: married circa- 1689 Mrs. Anders Petersen Robek, b-circa-1670, Norway.

Son of Anders: Erik Andersen Robek, b-circa. 1690, Norway, d-1765 Norway: Married 1721 Berit (Hollstein) Ericksdatter, b-1695 Norway, d-1771 Norway.
child: Anne Marta (Eriksdatter) Vestnes. b-before 1750 Norway.

It may be that our Robek family does trace back to the Peter Robek listed above through a different group of offspring but this is all I can find so far. There are not a lot of Robeks in Norway at this early time so the chances are good.
Eric.

Confirmation Nils Olaus Røbekck 1830 #15
His mother was Olava Olsdatter.
Probably Nils Robech (29) was his father in 1801 census

Tak for all infornasjon jeg har fått.
Did any of the mid and early 1700's census or "sjeleregister" information survive from the Kristiansund? If so, is it available anywhere for us to see? I would guess that it is not on line for us in the USA to view. I have reached the point in my research of the Røbek, Larsen and Neeraas families that information from this time period will be more usefull.
