This is a rather large request and it probably needs someone from Oslo or Skien to find the information. One of my great uncles immigrated to Minnesota, USA married a local girl and they had two sons. About 1899 they moved to Oslo and in the 1900 Norsk census he worked at the Hotel Royal. Our curiosity is that he was only about 40 years old when he died, his wife was 43 when she died and one child died at age 20 the same year as the mother. They are buried at the Norde Gravlund Cemetery in Skien.

Reiersen (Reyerson) Harald 1869-1909
Reiersen (Reyerson) Anna Marie b. Minnesota d. 1917
Reiersen, Idun 1897-1917
Reiersen, Alvilde 1907-1973
Reiersen, Sverre 1904-1992

The two sons born in America are Ruben b.1893 and Henry Arthur b.1895
We would like to know the cause of death of Harald, Anna and Idun. Also, what happened to the other children? As you can see this is a large request. We have all birth and death information and thier family. Any help will be appreciated.

Yes, but what I am looking for now is their cause of death and what happened to the surviving children. That information is probably in a parish register. I have all the rest thanks to volunteers.

The Oslo churches that I know of all are included in the online scanned church records available online and most appear to include events in the 1917 time period.
Have you researched in those yourself Dennis? Did you find any cause of death listed in those church records for deaths/burials?

Can someone please answer this question for me? If a person dies in Oslo, but is buried in Skien, would there be a listing for his death in the Skien records? Or is burial in the cemetery, not listed, if they are not a current member of the parish? Just curious, as I didn't see anything listed in the Skien parish records.

In 1900 Harald Reiersen worked in Skein, Telemark at a hotel. I am unable to find him in Oslo in that census.

I would like to see the evidence that the family moved to Oslo about 1899.
As I read the 1900 census the family was living in Slemdalsgade Skien. Harald was working at Hotel Royal in Skien and is recorded at the hotel address being Telemarksgaden.

Here is a map of Slemdalsgade. Would this be the same as saying Slemdals gate?

Once the 1910 Norway Census is available, only 195 days to go , then you will be able to find out where they were living after the death of Harald. That should help.
