Does anyone have a suggestion on how to find out where a farm from the late 1850s was located? I am looking for two, both in Nes, Akershus: Bakken and Ertserud Seter Maalerud. Is it possible that they are still farms?

You could check in the bygdeboker for that area - "Nes På Romerike", series of 7 volumes by Thor Hexeberg, Birger Kirkeby, and Martin Dehli.

Thanks so much to both of you! I love the map; I was correct when I guessed that their farms were close together. I'll be checking with our library system to see if they can locate the bygdebok for me.

Jan Peter, The farm map link has been invaluable to me! Since I am able to view the farms in the area, it has helped me to decipher the farm names on the birth/christening records. Thanks again!
