An earlier response to one of your inquiries with the subject heading "Petersons in Houston County, Minnesota" here gave information -
"Halvor's brother, Swan Peterson, who lived on the north edge of Houston and was married to Asper Gunderson Veum [BV:F-p. 189]"
"Key: BV:F= Bendik Veum, Fyresdal (1943)"

Asbjör Gundersdatter Veum and her parents left Norway when she was only 12 years old - so you'll have to look somewhere in 'Amerika' for any possible marriage record.

Have you looked at the book "History of Houston County" published in 1919 by Franklyn Curtiss-Wedge. On pages 231 and 232 there is a section on Peter Wilson.

"Mr. Wilson married Asper Peterson on March 20, 1881. She was born on July 10, 1863, the daughter of Swan and Asper (Gunderson) Peterson. The parents of Mrs. Wison were both born in Norway, the father coming to the United States before the Civil War. His first wife the mother of Mrs. Wilson, died at the latter's birth, she being the only child of that marriage. By a second marriage Mr. Peterson had nine children."

The source on Asper/Asbjör referred to by lyndal40 has some great information that may clear up some things although it does open up other possibilities!

From LDS records it shows that Sven/Swan Petterson married Asper Olsdatter on 11 Oct 1861 in Fillmore MN, [ Marriage indexes, 1868-1883, 1899-1932; marriage records, 1858-1920 Minnesota. District Court (Fillmore County)] This, if true, would seem to indicate that she is the mother of Asper mentioned above.

From an earlier posting to your original query, jkmarier posted an excellent resource that quoted the original sources, as well as an informative paragraph from the "Telemark to America volume II settlements." This shows that Swan Peterson was married to an Asper Gundersdatter Veum and the source listed as "Bendik Veum, Fyresdal (1943)" which is probably the most reliable source, especially as it was based on information from Torkel Oftelie from February 1913 and published in Telesoga No. 17 in September 1913.

Back in Norwegian records, there is an Asbjör Olsdatter c 9 Jun 1839 (fa Ole Olesen, mo Aslaug Christensdatter) in Kviteseid, T’Mark and an Asbjör Gundersdatter b 21 Jan 1839, c 17 Mar 1839 Fyrsedal, T’Mark (fa Gunder Giermundsen, mo Signe Halvorsdatter) either one of which may fit the profile of Asper/Asbjör.

The information shown in the "History of Houston County" may have confused the mother of the daughter Asper/Asbjör [you should probably find this book to see what original sources were used to substantiate this information.] Because there is a record that Sven was married to Asbjör Olsdatter in 1861 [it may be correct], then perhaps Asbjör Olsdatter is the mother of Asbjör Peterson, and Asbjör Gundersdatter is the second wife shown in the "Telemark to America volume II settlements" as living on Houge Ridge and married to Sven/Swan.

Your best bet is to find if libraries in your area carry books that can help you. Also, look in the bygdebok for this area of Telemark to see if Asbjör Gundersdatter/Olsdatter or Sven Pettersen, and their parents are listed anywhere. The information is usually pretty reliable and sometimes there are gems of information that say that a specific family married into another family and then left for the US.

here are some books you might be able to find that could be very helpful (the Bendik Veum book is mentioned again):

Taraldlien, Bendik. Fyresdal, med Bilæte. Oslo: Cammermeyer, 1949.
Veum, Bendik. Fyresdal. Oslo: Fyresdal Kommune, 1943
Bd. I. Ætter og folkeliv.
Marvik, Steinar, 1947- Fyresdal gards- og aettesoge Steinar Marvik. Oslo: Fyresdal kommune, 1992.

I would read the History of Houston County and the LDS record to mean.

Asper Gunderson/ Olsdatter (Asbjor Gundersdatter Veum) married Swan Peterson on 11 Oct 1861 and died on July 10, 1863 giving birth to daughter Asper.

Shortly thereafter, at least by the 1870 US Census he was remarried to a woman named Caroline and had children, Asber age 6 (probably the Asper referred to in the History of Houston County) and son Peter age 4 and daughter Sarah age 1.

Here is the information on Swan from 1870 US Census

Name: Swan Peterson
Birth Year: abt 1838
Age in 1870: 32
Birthplace: Norway
Home in 1870: Houston, Houston, Minnesota
Race: White
Gender: Male
Post Office: Houston

And daughter Asber (Asper) called Osber in the record from Ancestry.com

Name: Osber Peterson
Birth Year: abt 1864
Age in 1870: 6
Birthplace: Minnesota
Home in 1870: Houston, Houston, Minnesota
Race: White
Gender: Female
Post Office: Houston
