After using Familysearch.org to find a Lena Olsen in Dakota Territories, I was able to also find the same record in Ancestry.com. The birth year is off a little but the reference to Cass County fits. She was born in Norway.

Searching the immigration records for a Lena Olson turns up several candidates, however there seems to be no way to chose among them without having some information on when she left Norway.

Hi,

Good to have found a Lena in the 1880. It is also possible that the Caroline Olson in the household Ole lived in 1880 was the Lena.

Perhaps the original querist can flesh out the "Leverson girl" stories more and which LDS resource she found with the connection to Sacred Heart, Minnesota.

From the online index it can't be determined if Ole's and Lena's marriage was in a church or by the county judge. If it was a church there may be a suggestion about her origins in the church records of the marriage. Likewise baptismal records of the children.

Hi I am wondering if this olena is related in any way to Olena Olsdatter-shomakerstuen In the states she was given the last name maug.she was born september 16-1948 in norway. she died september 24-1937. She had married peter olsen. I also believe he was named peder olsen in norway. He now has the name of Peter Olsen Javner (Jevne) He was born September 14-1846 in norway. and died december 21 -1924What I know of them is they had thirteen children. I do not know when they were married

Mary,
The 1900, 1910, and 1920 US censuses should give you enough information to find what year Peder and Olena immigrated to the US and probably enough information to be able to calculate about when they would have married. It would be especially helpful to know if they married before or after immigrating and if any of those children were born in Norway.
