OK, But you may need to tell me. Because I have a hard time reading Norwegian and have asked for translation to make sure my dates are right. If there is anything else there in writing I wouldn't know what it says without help

Thanks, Jodie

Kåre,
I’m sorry, I am confused with your last 2 postings.

Did Halvor Andersen Hafsten/ Kaali marry 2 times?
Thank-you, Jodie

Sorry for the confusion Jodie.

Halvor Andersen married Aslaug Gunleksdatter , 4 sons and a daughter was Anders Thorstensen and Thore Gregarsdatter oldest son, a namesake to Aagots father Halvor Andersen Hafsten 1656-1745.

Here is the family tree that correspond with the information from the three books, lots of new names and dates may seem confusing the first time one reads it, but easy to navigate.

Still much more information to share from Ryen.

Hi,
source; Hitterdalsboken.

Ryen 1645 census for "kopskatt", the owner had to pay tax for each head living on the farm. Gregar and his "quinde" woman is mentioned.

Ryen nedre (lower)1650, Gregar owns most of the farm, Torstein Bolkesjø from Gransherad owns a small part, the fee/tax was 5 Riksdaler.

Sem August 25. 1658, the Bailiff sued Gregar Ryen to have marked timber (without permission) further up in Heddal.

1660 census; Gregar Ryen age 60, his son Hans age 24, crippled and Ole age 14, a servant boy Halvor and a soldier lived on Ryen (only the owner, tax payer, and men/boys, potential soldiers, are mentioned.

Gregar Ryen died 1671, the probate register dated March 15. 1671 mention that Gregar died a short while ago.

Gregar (Halvorsen) Ryen was rather wealthy, owned farms or shares in farms in Gransherad, Hjartdal and Heddal, his last will;
The widow kept half of Ryen for the rest of her life, then her part in Ryen should be taken ower by the oldest son Halvor Gregarsen.
- Ole Gregarsen inherit a share in Ryen
- Hans Gregarsen inherit shares in Aakre and Skaardal
- Torgunn Gregarsdatter shares in Aakre and Dalen
- Ragnild Gregarsdatter shares in Aakre and Skardal
- Ragnild Gregarsdatter shares in Lonar and Rui
- Thore Gregarsdatter shares in Ryen and Busnes.
- Helge Gregarsdatter share in Ryen.

In addition the youngest son Ole got 30 Riksdaler extra to build a new house on S. (Southern) Ryen because the house there was in bad condition compare with the other farms.

Chattels switched heirs among themselves.

OK, Kåre
I do not know why I cannot figure this out. I cannot get past my confusion.

Aagot Halvorsdatter Hafsten 1699-1771 married Ole Kittelsen Miellands 1703-?

Aagot Halvorsdatter Hafsten 1699-1771 parents are: Halvor Andersen Hafsten/ Kaali 1656-1745 and Ingrid Torkildsdotter Haave 1658-1699

Halvor Andersen Hafsten/ Kaali 1656-1745 parents are Anders Thorstensen Kaali and Tore Gregarsdatter Ryen/Rygi

Then the same parents Anders Thorstensen Kaali and Tore Gregarsdatter Ryen/Rygi have son Halvor Andersen (Aagot’s father?) married Aslaug Gunleksdatter? , 4 sons and a daughter was Anders Thorstensen and Thore Gregarsdatter oldest son, (Aagot’s father?) a namesake to Aagots father Halvor Andersen Hafsten 1656-1745.????

The family tree didn’t help my confusion.

Can you help me understand?
I’m sorry I am being a bad student!
Jodie

Hi Jodie.
I have been a student all my life, hopefully learning something new every day.

I will organize the names one by one for you later tonight or tomorrow.
With so many names similar to each other its easy to get lost.

I had some problems to navigate in the familytree at first, its very good with references.
The persons behind a persons name (to click on) is the parents, grandparents etc.

You put up the correct family line Jodie.
It was a son (Halvor) that made the confusion.

Aagot Halvorsdatter Hafsten1699- 1771 (Ole Kittelsen Miellands wife)
Aagot´s parents were;
Halvor Andersen Hafsten/Kaali 1656-1745 and Ingrid Torkelsdatter Haave 1659-1699.
Halvor Andersen Hafstens parents;
Anders Thorstensen Kaali d. 1694 and Thore Gregarsdatter Ryen b.1630.
Thore Gregarsdatter Ryen´s parents;
Gregar Halvorsen Ryen 1605-1671 and Gunne Halvorsdatter, she lived 1688

Hope this make more sence.
The Ryen family is described in Hitterdalsboken Page 148-154, a very exiting family
