According to NH records, the Wilson liner "Oslo" sailed from Christiania to Hull on April 18, 1910. I have reasons to believe that my father Harry Holmstrom (1887-1962) was one of the steerage passengers. Is there any way to confirm (or disprove) this fact?

Thanking in advance for any ideas.

The database "Emigranter over Kristiania 1871-1930" at the Digitalarkivet website lists a Martin Harry Holmstrøm (Swedish 1887 born seaman) to have left on the Oslo on or about 16 April 1910, intended destination New York.

Harry Halmstrom (22) from "Kjorne", Sweden, arrived New York on May 1st, 1910, sailing on the SS Carmania, departuring Liverpool April 25th.
Hard to read his destination, but it looks like "Torstingsville", New York.
His father is listed as Axel (..) Hånn(?), Tjærne, Sweden.

If the querist has access to Ancestry.com she can then go to that source and look at the Original Ships Manifest for herself.

Even if she is not a subscriber to Ancestry.com perhaps her local library or a friend is a subscriber. It is always nice to be able to look at the original source material.

Looking at your posting, I have no idea where you got the information from, nor would the querist.

Thank you all for promt reply! Not only was my belief confirmed, I also learned of some shipmates of his from the same area on the Swedish west coast. He signed a Declaration of Intention on July 14, 1913, giving the date of arrival on the "Carmania", and from there I counted backwards to the "Oslo". - He indeed lived in Seattle in June 1917, signing a World War I draft registration. Not being an American citizen, his contribution to the war effort consisted of three trips as crew member of ships built in Seattle, through the new Panama Canal to the East Coast, returning west by train - a small part of the "Bridge to France". I have an article on that topic in the forthcoming issue of the magazine "Länspumpen". Anyone interested, e-mail me!
