| i know he came by ship to New york and for the years he was unmarried i do not know where he lived, then he came to east machias, maine and meet my grandmother , married and moved to Danforth, maine.Born feb 20 , 1884, came he here in 1900 and never married until1926.He was a pulp wood cutter in the woods all the time.I am thinking i will never find my family fo Norway. |

From you information above, I assume that this is him in the 1930 US Census, from Ancestry.com.

Scottish Fergusons as millwrights are found several places. If John Martin was really born in Norway maybe his father was there in connection with erecting a mill, but was not permanently living in Norway.
Local knowledge of the Kragerø area and history of mills would be a possibility. |
