Olav Torgersen Moan born Aug 14 1900 Rennebu, Norway. I know he came to the USA and I was wondering who he was married to in Norway and I think he had two children. Could you help me out with this as I would like to find why he never returned to Norway and what happened to his family if he did have a family. Thanks.

Ancestry.com also contains about four Family Tree's containing Olav Torgerson Moan born 1900 Rennebu, Sør-Trøndeløg, Norway, died 1972 Canada. Very little other data on him is available as the Family Tree's contain mostly Norwegian based family data.

Olaf T. Moan, born 1900 was the father of a child born out of wedlock June 4 1927 and baptized Reidunn, see #9. The mother was Ingeborg T Sæter (1908).

The mother Ingeborg Trondsdatters bapt. record is #5. Her parents were married Oct 13 1907, see "1".
Ingeborgs sister (and Reidunns aunt) was born Aug 22 1927 and baptized 2 months after Reidunn!

Trond Johnsen was born Sept 14 1885, see #22 and Berit Andersdatter was born May 8 1889, see #9.

The marg1811 Family Tree on Ancestry.com also lists in addition to Reidunn a child named Eidar Olav Moan born April 10, 1921 in Trøndeløg, Norway and died July 27, 1974 in Trondheim, Sør Trøndeløg, Norway. They also reference this immigration record. Eidar was apparently a seaman as he is listed as a crewman on several voyages.

Name: Eidar Olav Moan
Arrival Date: 20 Feb 1953
Birth Year: abt 1922
Age: 31
Gender: Male
Ethnicity/Race/Nationality: Norwegian
Port of Departure: Oslo, Norway
Port of Arrival: New York, New York
Ship Name: Stavangerfjord

I have been trying to figure out more about Olaf Moan. His sister's say he was never married and lived in Canada and when he died his sister had his body brought back to Minnesota in the United States where she lived and he is buried there. Not until recently did I find the two children on Margunn's ancestry.com site. But then we do not know for sure what the story is. This gives me a little more. But who was the mother of Eidar?

It might be a coincidence but here are brides of Olmsted county, Minnesota named Moan in MOMS at www.mncounty.com:

OLMSTED 110534 (B04145AA.AVV) 10/6/1951 CHASE, ROBERT C MOAN, ALICE T
OLMSTED M467 (B06109AA.A7Y) 10/5/1908 PETERSEN, P L D MOAN, RANDI
OLMSTED P175 (B06129AA.AGQ) 8/13/1910 TYNES, LARS MOAN, CARRIE
OLMSTED R254 (B06186AA.AL5) 9/9/1916 TYNES, LARS O MOAN, MARGIT

At www.mnhs.org Minnesota Deaths index there is no entry for Olaf Moan and of Olaf Moen none died in 1972.
