I am searching for more additional information about my ancestors Johan Thorsen and Mari Amundsdatter. They were married 22 May 1805. This is recorded in Fron 1799 - 1816 Ministerialbok page 306. I have them both on the 1801 census. He age 33 a Nat. Soldat living with his brother Morten. She age 25 a Tienestefolk. His death is recorded twice. Fron 1816-1827 Ministerialbok page 120 and Fron/Kvikne 1816-1850 page 102. I have not been able to find her death.

I would like to find record of their birth and the name of parents. The parish records do not seem to go back that far. He being a national Soldier I am wondering if there might be military records that would give me that information? Also in 1801 she is living under the roof of a Peder Thorsen. Could this be an older brother? He seems a little old but I guess anything is possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
the churchbooks from Fron from before 1799 are lost, so this could be a challenge.
I assume you think of Peder Thorsen as a big brother of Johannes and Morten? It's possble, but would be hard to tell without any proof of their parents...

Thanks Jan. You confirm what i suspected. Yes, I was thinking of Peder as an older brother.

I have found death record for two Mari Amundsdatters. I do not know if there is enough information to link either one to my Mari. The first is Fron 1816-1827 page118 # 6. The second Fron 1828-1838 page 276 #40. Neither age matches the age of the 1801 census but is close.
