I am looking for decendants of my great-grandmother¨s sister Marit born December 27 in 1842 and brother Petter born April 16 1867.
They were children of Ole Erlandson , born October May 14 in 1819 and Marit Pedersdatter Stadsbyøyen born September 26 1821. Marit emigrated in 1868 and Petter in 1888.

Any infomation is welcome.

Bente

Bente, Do you possibly know what their destination in America was? ( I am assuming they came to America, but its not always good to assume). Any other information you have about them might be helpful.Did they travel alone? Petter might have taken the name Peter Olsen so there are probably lots of them in the census. If you have an idea where Peter went to, it would help. Marit will be hard to find if she married and changed her name.

Bente

There are MANY Olsens :). I was just looking, and I did find a Peter Olsen in Deuel County , South Dakota in the 1900 census. He was from Norway, 33 years old, and born in April, 1867. Hard to read, but it looks like he came to America in 1884 maybe. He is married and his wife Enga came from Norway in 1888. The 1900 census is nice because it shows the month and year of birth. If he came over to La Crosse, Wisconsin in 1888 he very well could be in South Dakota by 1900, so this is a possible link. Ray
