My great-uncle Johan Hansen served on this same ship (Panserskibet Tordenskiold). I am trying to find out more information about his later career in the mid 1920's. All we know is his ship sank between Cuba and Florida. He was rescued and taken to Florida and on to New York where he boarded another ship bound for Norway which ran into a severe storm somewhere off the English coast. There were no survivors. We would really like to find out more information about what ships etc.

Hi Jack, some words and expressions are not easy to translate.

Norway have Conscripition, compulsory enrollment, introdused 1854.
Johan Sĝderlund did his military duty of 6 months as conscripted "Matros" Seaman in the navy, increased to 12 months from 1914.

Compulsory enrollment § 3;
All male citizen of Norway has a right and duty to serve in the military from Jan. the year one became 19 to age 44.
