Oltesvik is located in Høle, Rogaland, Norway. At the time Tobias was born the church books were kept under the district of Strand, Rogaland.

Tobias was actually born 4 Jan 1849 to Tollev/Tollef Gundersen and Gunvor Jakobsdtr.

The birth/baptismal record is listed as #6 on the left side of the folio and it appears he was actually born on the farm known as "Helmikstol".

By the time of the 1865 Norwegian census this Tobias appears to be working on a farm in Hjelmeland, Rogaland.

"Lovig" MIGHT be another farm in a nearby district where I have done my own family research or just a spelling variation --what information do you have about her?

Rachel Marie Lovig is most likely to be Rakkel Jensdatter from the Løvig farm also in Høle, Rogaland, Norway.

The 1865 Norwegian census of that farm -

In later years you can find Løvig also spelled as Lauvig or Lauvik.

John Oltesvig was my grandmother's cousin. I live nearby the place Tobias and Rakel Marie came from in Norway. I got some old photos of the family.
