Am looking for information on Lasse Johansen Buan family. Lasse was born 1623 and died in 1693. There is no name for his wife. I would like to know that, if possible. Also there were two sons. I have information on John Lassesen Buan born 1692 and burial was 21 Jan 1776. He married 3 Nov 1720 to Mali Eysteinsdatter Beitland. There is no information on her birth or death.
The son John Lassesen Kusas born 1691, I have no information on. He lived at the farm Kulas. They are from Hegra, North Trondelag Fylke.
Any information would be great.
Thankyou

Diane Wheeler

Not easy to find a womans name that fare back.
If the record exist Lasse Johansen Buan´s wife was mentioned in the marriage register or the tax register if she survived her husband and inherited him, but only by name until she married again or a child takes over the farm, if any of this didn´t happend she was only mentioned as Lasse Buans q "quinde" (woman).
Another posibility is to be mentioned by name as godmother:
Fadd: ?? Buan

Up to late 1700´s a few weeks after a child birth the mother was introdused to the congregation in a christening ceremony where she was met by the priest at the door where he led her into the church again and introdused her.

As for Lasse Buan´s wife "q" the ceremony was described in the church books as:
Introd: Lasse Buans:q: or :qv: or :qvinde:

Hi,

Another possible source of the relatives of Lass Johansen's qvinde are among the the faddernes of her children, provided, of course that the godparents are actually named.

It might be possible that her father's name was Johan / Jon also, if those two were the only children she and her husband had.

A terrifying long shot is searching through probate registers & abstracts, searching for the record of anyone named Johan / Jon.

- the parish record for his death says he was Johan Lassesen, see 9th line on right page.
The marriage record of Dom: 23 p. Trin. = Nov 3 1720 says Jon Larsen, Buum and Mali Estensdatter, see last line at Dom: 23 p. Trin., left page.

On Dom: 21 p. Trinit = Nov 2 1721 Johan Larsen, Buum married Ane Erichsdatter, see last line on right page.

If Jon Larsen, Buum and Johan Larsen, Buum is one and the same man, his first wife Mali Estensdatter (Eysteinsdatter) died before Nov 1721.

The Buan family mentioned here, no info. of Lasse Johansen Buan´s wife.

Mali Estensdatter died probably in a child birth.

Buan and Buum, also spelled Budum and Bude in various centuries, the origin is the old Budir, and means storehouse.

What great information I am getting from everyone on this site. Thankyou.
According to the information I have-Lasse Johansen Buan born 1623 had two sons, John Lassesen Kusas born 1691. He lived at the farm Kulas and John Lassesen Buan born 1692.(my husband's ggggrandfather.) It does say that after Mali died, he married Ane Eriksdatter Amli 2 Nov 1721. On his first marriage, a not baptized child, died in 1719, shortly after birth.
Now I will read all this information sent to me and print it up.

The last in the main line for us is John Johnsen Hjelsing born 5 Mar 1863. He emigrated to America-Canada. He had a sister named Ingeborg Johnsdatter Hjelsing born 29 Mar 1866. We do not know any more on her except she did not immigrate but stayed behind. Their father was John Ivarsen Hjelsing born 4 April 1825, died 10 Mar 1876. He was married 10 Oct 1862 to Ane Gunnarsdatter Nustad, from Meraker Fylke. Sounds like it would be hard to find any information on the sister, from the information in the forum, on daughter, Ingeborg Johnsdatter Hjelsing. If at all possible, sure would like to know.
There were no sons to take over the farm, so another family took the farm.

The baptismal record for John Iversen is #78. His parents were Iver Johnsen, Husbyen and Ingeborg Gunnenaadatter.

Thankyou again. Am glad you can read the parish records, as some are not so easy. But guess you have had a lot of practise. I'd never find some of those records and would not get too far. Am pleased with getting so much information. Then if I have any, can verify it and get correct dates and names.
