Can you tell me about this occupation? Does it translate correctly -- "cork cutter"? May these be corks for wine bottles or the like? That is what I think of when I hear the word "cork," but perhaps the literal translation isn't so. Thanks.

Correct Terry, cork cutter, perhaps a "Korkeskjærer" worked in a cork factory.

Good translation. If you need to translate other words this may be helpful.

Very helpful. Thank you.

The following probate record for Johanne Amunds. Olsen, first on the left, I can read:

Column 1. Wife Johanne Amundsdatter Olsen, 65 years, died, Flegbreit (sp) 6.
Column 2. Widow and yard worker Gulbrand Olsen and 7 children, ____. Does it say that 3 of her children are in America?
Column 3. Translation welcome, please.

Column 1. Wife Johanne Amundsdatter Olsen, 65 years old, died yesterday, Flisbergaten No. 6.
Column 2. Leaves behind widower and worker Gulbrand Olsen and 7 grownup children, 3 of which are not present since they are in America.
Column 3. The deceased is said to only have had support from poor relief. The burrial is paid for by her 4 children in Norway.
