Any of you experts out there know about your neighbors in Sweden? Death records list great grandfather as being from Lynsdal and I don't know if it's a county, town, parish, or farm. Can you help?

Was your great grandfather Johan Adolfson (21) who emigrated in 1905? He had Lynsdal as his address when he arrived Ellis Island.

I have not found a place named Lynsdal in Sweden. There are some villages called Ljungsdal. That would give a pronunciation and a meaning allmost the same.

At Ellis Island; the original manifest for people who have "Lynsdal, Sweden" as residence, reads Ljusdal in most cases.

It makes sense that it might be Ljusdal. It sounds like an Americanization of the name. His last name was Hallquist and he emigrated in 1870 from there.
Thanks guys!
