Marie Olsdatter Tande married John Nielsen Magelie Nov. 17, 1806 at Oyer, Oppland, Norway. At that time "Tande" appears after her name, but I don't know if she works at this place or if she was born here. John Magelie and Marie went on to have 12 children, all born at Magelie Oyer, Opp. between 1807-1835. There are no census records available during this time period for me to find out her age or birth year. I am looking for suggestions on how to find out her birthdate (since I don't know the year she was born) and her parentage. Any ideas or suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you, Dusty |

Marie got a child April 6th 1835, Amund, so she must have been young when she married in 1806. Tande should be the farm where she lived before she married in 1806. |

There is a web site created by Tor Onshus, who is from Oppland, and his family tree is huge. Marie Olsdstr Tande is listed along with 72 other Tande's There are also 173 Magelie's listed. Here is the page with Marie, she is #41. http://onshus.no/TNG/search.php?mylastname=TANDE&lnqualify=equals&mybool=AND&tree=1
He doesn't have Anne's birthdate either, but he does list four children.
I found two younger siblings to Amund, Mathea b. 7 Nov. 1830 and an Johannes b. 6 Feb 1828.

I actually have all the twelve children. I went thru the digitized birth records that I can access online and found her marriage date and the 12 children, their baptism dates and sometimes their birthdates - one of these children being my direct line. Marie is the next generation back. I will check out the site you mentioned. Thank you, Dusty |

I checked the 1801 Census records for Tande and did not find Marie living there. However, there were two different Ole's listed there, one of which could be her father. That is why I'm wondering if she may have moved there prior to her marriage instead of being born there. Thanks for your information. -Dusty |

John Nielsen, Mageli was 18 years old and not married in 1801. At the marriage in 1806 he would have been 23 years old. Sine Marie Olsdatter had a child in 1835 (Amund) it is reasonable to expect that she was quite young when they married, say 16 - 23 years. Only 3 Marie Olsdatter were baptized between 1785 - 1790, one was not living in Øyer in 1801, the two others were:
Marie, born Oct 29 1888, parents Ole and Marit Bryen, she was 13 years in 1801.
and Marie, born Jan 15 1790, parents Ole and Lisbet at Simengaard, she was 11 years in 1801.

Locate her death record in the church books. A death record OFTEN listed how many years old the person was. |

Marie had her first child (with John Magelie) - Marie, born Oct. 15, 1807 and her 2nd child - Ole, born Jan. 19, 1810 and the next child - Anne, born Feb. 6, 1812 and then twins - Niels and Johan, born Dec. 16, 1814. Amund, the 12th child, was the last child born to her that I found a record of. So, I guess if she was either one of the Marie's listed by eibache, she would have been 19 years or 17 years when her first child was born, which is probably the average age to be married then. I have looked for her death record, but haven't found it yet. I will have to keep looking. Thank you all who have responded! -Dusty |

Dusty, old church records are combined into a conglomerate of birth's deaths, marriages, etc.
I think I found Marie's birth record.
Here is a birth record for Marie ????, 13 August 1780, I can't read the Father's name. The mother is Marie ?? from the Tandes farm. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9271&idx_id=9271&uid=ny&idx_side=-160
Here is a birth record for Marie's sister Ømjer(Ømbjør), Born 1775 Dom 2 Advent. Same parents, and from the Tandes farm.http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=9271&idx_id=9271&uid=ny&idx_side=-138
Ømbjør was a godparent for Anne and Niels.
I know the father's first name should be Ole, but it sure doesn't look like it!

I wonder if this would be my "Marie" or not? That would mean she had her last child - Amund (in 1835) at the age of 55. I'm thinking that might be a bit old to be having your 12th child, but not impossible. -Dusty |

I had a chance to look this site over more. It was really helpful. It confirms alot of information that I already had and includes two of my great grandparents in it (who came to America). It also gave me quite a bit of additional information on a few direct line family that I did not have. However, it doesn't include Marie's birthdate or date of death. Thank you for telling me about this site! :) -Dusty |

- it is a bapt. record for Mari Lassesdatter, born Aug 13 1780, parents being Lasse and Marie Tande. (I'm afraid it is not the Marie Olsdatter asked for in this topic.)

Thank you Les! This site really has alot of information. It makes it easy to follow with the "tree" diagram to show how people are all tied together. Do you feel the person who put all this together verified the information so that it is all reliable information? Or, would it be a site that can give a person a lot of clues and trails to follow and that I should then try to verify what I am able to myself? Thanks again! -Dusty :D |
