John Jacobsen's birth record. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=8518&idx_id=8518&uid=ny&idx_side=-97 John Jacobsen's confirmation record. http://www.arkivverket.no/URN:kb_read?idx_kildeid=1093&idx_id=1093&uid=ny&idx_side=-212
Would like to know if you think this is the same person. I have found a John Jacobsen on the 1865 census (Hole, record 965, age 38.) I think his occupation is a shoemaker. My dictionary doesn't have all of the words needed to translate the remarks, but I think maybe he was a boarder. At this time he is unmarried. I have not had much luck finding him on the 1875 census, so I am not sure if he passed away or immigrated. My gggrandfather Jacob Andersen, who is John's 1/2 brother immigrated to the US in 1872 and I am not sure if John and Jacob were close brothers. Their mother was Mari Johnsdatter, John's father Jacob Tronsen must have passed away sometime between the time John was born in 1831 and the time Jacob was born in 1836. Possibly 1832. Jacob has a different father and was illegitimate. Again any assistance would be truly grateful. Leta

Baptismal and confirmation records are for the same John Jacobsen. John Jacobsen in the 1865 census was 38 years old (born approx. 1828) the one you found bapt record for was born 1831 - birth year more off than expected.
Jacob Tronsen (52 years) died Febr 19 1832, see #4
Jacobs father Anders Johannesen was dead when he was baptized Aug 7 1836, see #37. (Salige Anders Johannesen)

Eniar,

I have this record showing Anders married again on June 6, 1845. Could this not be the case? I was sure I had the right one. Anders married Kristine's sister Kari back in 1831 and she died. Then he had a child with Mari (Jacob) in 1836 and Kristine is one of Jacob Godparents. Mari's first son John was born in 1831, so John would have been 5 when Jacob was born. So I am hoping they all lived together, but not sure.
The only other John Jacobsen I found in the census was even older than 38, so ruled him out completely. Do you have any other idea's for possibly finding John Jacobsen? Seems I have lost him after his confirmation date. |
