Does anyone know if Nærø and Nærøy are the same place?

I’m trying to locate a birth/baptism record of Bergitte Simonsdatter (about 1833) without any luck?

The 1865 census says her birthplace was Nærø.

Her son was born in Leka, Kolvereid, Nord-Trøndelag where she records her residence as Tenfjord.

It is the same place. In 1865 Danish spelling was used in Norway. Ø (Danish) = øy (Norwegian) = island (English).

She was married in 1865, the record for the marriage is
#14 where it says that she was born in Tolgen parish and her father was Simon Erichsen.

Her baptismal record is #7 (right page) born Febr 25 1834, parents Simon Erichsen and Gjertrud Olsdatter.

Hi Einar

Bergitte Simonsdtr appears in the 1865 census for Nærø (Varøen farm).

Her son is Johan Severin Larsen (born 1858). Johan's father was Lars Jensen but Johan was illegitimate and appears on the 1865 census with his mother and stepfather – Nikolai Johansen.

See also Johan’s birth entry no. 31/59 at…
