I am just now getting back to my Norwegian line after several years and in 2002 I received the following information from Betty Rockswold, who is now deceased. My question is if Ole Rasmussen, Lokken born in 1746 and died in 1786, and his brother, Peder Rasmussen, Lokken, Sormoen born in the same year and died in 1873 is if the birth year is accurate. Also, are there any records on who Rasmus Oleson, Moen, Lokken parents were. I have Rasmus born in Vingelin, Hedmark County, Norway.

If Peder Rasmussen died 1873 it is very unlikely that he was a twin brother of Ole Rasmussen.

One Ole Rasmussen was baptized Aug 14 1746, his parents were Rasmus Olsen and Kirsti Pedersdatter. See #5.

Rasmus Olsen and Kirsti Pedersdatter were married July 6 1745, see next to the last couple on right page.

Sorry, I typed in the wrong death date for Peder Rasmussen...He passed on in 1813. I do have his parents as Rasmus Oleson and Kirsti Pedersdatter and he married Kirsti Jonsdatter. Thanks for your quick response. :-)

Betty Rockswold sent me the information. However, she died about 2 years ago. If I'm not mistaken she lived in Minnesota USA. She wrote she found information I was looking for in the Tynset vol. II book by Ivar Streitlien and has page numbers for some information. Also, she found the farm Misalmoen, Gn.124,bn 10. I was searching for ancestors of my Grandfather, Rasmus Pedersen, son of Peder Rasmussen born 6 January 1821 who married Marie Olesdatter, Rudi, Sell and she was born 17 April 1834. They had 3 children including my Grandfather and went to Trempealeau, Wisconsin 10 May 1877. Thanks again.

The baptismal record for Peder Rasmussen (your ggrandfather) is #16, he was baptized March 4 1821 and his parents were Rasmus Pedersen and Ane Xstensdatter, at Sørmaanen.
The record for Rasmus Pedersen (your grandfather) is #53. He was born Oct 14 1863 at Sørmoen and baptized Nov 15. Parents Peder Rasmussen and Marie Olsdatter, Misalmoen.
The record for Marit Olsdatter is #101, she was born April 3 1834 and her parents were Ole Olsen, Rudi and Pernille Christensdatter.

This is your Peder Rasmusen in 1801.
He is here said to be 52 years old, i.e. born approx. 1749.
Peder Rasmusen, Sørmoe 66 years old died April 25 1813 in Tynset, see #68.

"Gårdsmatrikkelen" Farm Register for Tynset 1838.

Rasmus Pedersen owned farm nr 311 Sørmoen, value 1 Daler 3 Ort and 18 shilling and was partowner in nr 317 Løkken with Goro Endresdatter, value 1 Daler-0-15.
The value "Skyld" was normally 1/6 of annual return of the farm.
The old basis is at the end.

Skyld was the basis for tax, inheritance, sale, loans etc.

Sørmoen Tynset 1940, the barn is dated June 14. 1846.

I hope it works:
Write;
Løken Tynset, enter SØK in the Sørmoen photo and view the storehouse, "Stabbur" in Norwegian, on Løkken, Tynset from 1778.
Picture is taken 1940

I am at a loss here to dates Betty Rockswold, now deceased, sent for Rasmus Olesen, Moen, Lokken who is as far back as I've been able to go tracing my Mother's Norwegian line.
Following is what Betty sent me.

RASMUS OLESOEN, MOEN, LOKKEN was born about 1723 and died in 1761 at Vingelin, Hedmark, Norway. He married KIRSTI PEDERSDATTER born 1711 and died 1783. They had the following children:
1) OLE RASMUSSEN, LOKKEN born 1746 and died 1786
2)PEDER RASMUSSEN, LOKKEN, SORMOEN born 1746 and died 1813. Peder is my direct line
3)EMBRET RASMUSSEN, LOKKEN born 1752 and died 1859
4)MARIT RASMUSSENDATTER, LOKKEN born 1755 and died 1783
I question Ole's and Peder's birth years being the same although it is possible. Can you help me out. please? Thank you!

Juanita
