Hi, my replay from yesterday disappeared.
I don´t think we will find out who was the 2nd Johannes Andersen Amble who left Sogndal 1844.
It´s missings (not uncommon) in the church records for Sogndal, Lĉrdal and Vik where neither the migration or emigration records seems to exist for this family.
In the church records for baptism I sometimes came across the name Klingenberg as for Johannes and Ragnhilds son Andreas b. 1860, he was bap. Andreas Klingenberg.
The Klingenberg family owned the whole Ambla until it was sold to the Heiberg family 1690. "Amble godset" Amble manor, was divided into 5 farms and 18 tenent farms in 1801. The Heiberg family still own Ĝvre (Upper) Amble called Amla today where Johannes Andersen Amble was born on one of this farms.
The picture here shows Ĝvre Amble/Amla in the background.
The monument stone in next picture on Ĝvre Amla from 600 AC has following incriptions; "Bogeskyttaren vart lagt i haug her" The Archer was buried here

Our Johannes son Andres Klingenberg probably died before they emigrated, don't you think? The brother Andrew to my grandfather was born in 1866 In MN. So they liked the name and in honor of the lost one they gave him the same name. I liked the pictures. It is so beautiful there with all the water. The stone for the Archer is amazing. So old! Do you think the Archer was a hero? B |

Thanks, Jackie. We have very few papers from the family. Neither my mother or grandmother was interested in the genealogy of their family. So I guess that has passed to me, my sister (maybe) and my daughter. This has been amazing to learn all of these sources are so well linked. |

Its several monument stones in Norway called " Runesten" or runic incription on wood and timber.
Often a monument stone was made in memory to a named person and the name of who wrote the incription.
A theory; Since he was mentioned as the Archer we can assume that everyone knew who he was, perhaps in memory from the whole village to a; A skilled hunter. A skilled warrior. Maybe both.

I am so disappointed. I hurt my leg and it is painful to walk, even with a walking stick. SO we have had to postpone our trip. We will try to come later in the Fall or next Spring. Thank you all for your information. I have it in a folder and will love looking through your posts. BWE |
